Adam Doueihi #227

He tore Manly Warringah apart a
couple times, iced a kick from the
touchline too, broke Nth QLD's line for
the To'a try that should have won
the match. Played 1st XV rugby
In year 11, Australian schoolboy.
Came off an ACL but contributed
well in '22. Had a good campaign
for Lebanon in the world cup.
Local boy living in Strathfield.
Came back to the club after we
let him go. 900k is speculation.
Most of those points mean very little and the rest are not very impressive for a player commanding very good pay.
In fact, it is the resume of a bloke who should be on mid range salary within the club.
Gotta say, you havent convinced me one iota that Im wrong.

There was literally one article out
talking about his purported salary —
And you boys ran with it. I'm embaressed. I'm not built to convince anyone on here about anything it's just sad to watch.

Edit: so what If he represents
Himself and takes the money
which would have gone in a
managers pocket. That percentage
could help our cause. Smh

We don't have any more halves,
what are you taking about paws?
Moses is a pipe dream currently.

A lot of you are hating on here for
no reason. Genuinely unwarranted
The club's recruitment has been strategic this off-season which is a great improvement from previous years. The view I have is that the club has the half positions under control. That is just my view. I am indifferent towards Doueihi, I certainly don't hate him.

& for the record I don't hate Brooks either, I guess it just comes down to person preference lol.

Just a long shot, but i think he knows the writings on the wall , for 2024. Most players not signed beyond 2023., would be putting out feelers to other clubs. These feelers are are generally well known to the host clubs. As i said previously, i doubt they signed Smith on a t&t just to guide the cup side. If AD got an offer for 2023, Smith would be upgraded, and i think they would let Douehi go. None of the players including Brook,s that don't have contracts, should be concerned.
Nobody knows who the Tigers are shopping for in 2024, i doubt that they won't cover their bases in the event we don't get MM, or keep Brooks.

I actually don't want him gone and think he can add value, just needs to work for him & us position/cost wise 24+.

For 23 I think he is our best 5/8th and probably our best fullback and centre option also.
In the Sheens attacking structures which do often feature fullbacks running the ball I think AD in that direct running fullback roll would be lethal.
I seriously doubt they are looking at him, for any of those positions in 2024.
But i've been wrong before.

Brooks never asked for multiple releases to Newcastle, it's a media beat up!

But screw AD, he wants 900k !

We can trust these fools guys.
( Journalist & the media, that is )
Not withstanding, the media BS and rumour mungers, All the halves we had last year were not good enough. Hastings, Douiehi, Brooks, maybe in the future Laurie. Thats why they don't have 2024 contracts. Sheens has not said Brooks is staying in 2024. He did say that he thinks they can improve his game, That remains to be seen. As for AD, he is on about $750.000 which is good coin for an ordinary footballer. Now he was a fan favourite, and did show some glimpses, but was severely overrated, and i think this went to his head. Then he considered himself a world cup star, and know doubt copped a lot of back slapping over there. I think he's been reading too much of his own publicity, and needs come down to earth.

He's on 550 not 750.

I can see Laurie being shown the door also.

I hope you are right about the half back situation but I only see Brooks and AD for 2023. Very thin and hardly very convincing, especially if poor form or injuries occur.

I think AD was expecting a good showing in the World Cup which would aid his power in the post season player's market.
Problem is, he had to play two tier one nations who belted his side and kept him so quiet I forgot he was out there, missed the easy win against Ireland as he got himself suspended and had a training run against the might of Jamaica. He missed the opportunity to show what he has got when he played NZ and Australia, resulting in no reported offers so far post cup.
Ill support him as he is one of us, but Ill be very interested in any offer we present to him based upon his performances thus far in our colours.

I like AD, and hope he does well this year, I just can’t get over the moment in the game last year when we were getting smashed and instead of getting back in the line and defending, he strolled over to pick up his mouth guard with not a care in the world. Not angry, just disappointed.

The other query I have which is to do with the dogs, is that they are signing up all these players supposedly to pick and choose who they register later…. What happens with the guys that have signed and are not wanted at the end of the day…?

I like the way AD comes across and his desire to be a leader. The reported $ he is asking for and engagement with other clubs directly is just white noise.

Adam has several issues that he needs to work on to be here in 2024.

1. Attitude. While he has produced glimpses of his ability it has been inconsistent. There are times in games where it appears that he is so hungry for the ball and he stings in defence - then he fades away. His defence at times has been inept (doesn't matter which year you pick) and that is very much related to attitude.
2. Passing game. His passing game needs a shit tin of improvement. He has the strength to run over or through the opposition - but his ability to pull in a defender with his hands and force an overlap is about on par with a quality A grader.
3. Kicking game. His high spiraling bombs can be great - but he has little control over them. Some are brilliant - some just don't go where they are needed. We can get away with it because there is usually time to get around where it will land.
4. Leadership. If AD is to stay he needs to become a leader. Leadership is a bit about what happens off the field (and the reports I have heard/read are very positive) and a lot about what happens on the field. It is linked to attitude. He needs to lead by his actions. Not when he feels like it, but, when he is totally shagged; when things are going poorly; and when those around him need inspiration.

To me AD is a work in progress. He has some talent; but just isn't there yet. I trust that this off season, under Sheens and Benji, Adam can develop his attacking and kicking skills and it finally clicks for him that attitude and leadership is the foundation that football careers are built upon.

I'm keen as mustard to see him succeed. I have my doubts based on his past performances; however, we probably have the right coaching staff to develop him into the player that we need and he deserves to be.

I think he kind of suffers from the fact his flaws are obvious when watching from TV and always there witch makes it that much more frustrating to watch, whereas brooks main flaws of not being a organiser and some panicked decision making are either not apparent from the tv or less constant and easier to ignore if your being charitable to him(when u death ride him like half the sub those moments stick out more tho)
