Adam Doueihi #227

I’m not a fan of HBG. I’ve never defended them and never will. But it’s painfully obvious they are the new boogeyman. Anything that goes slightly wrong, it’s their fault. I’m already exhausted by it, and it’s not going to stop anytime soon. They are the new Luke Brooks.
One constant over 15 years man... It's trying to draw the map for how the top-down impacts, so everyone may think more broadly. With Adam, I just see a toxic cultural issue with them, the dumb decision on Richo and the lack of experienced staffing around benji, yet we always look in the immediate area - i.e., coach and/or player.

I know I am one of the major antagonists here, but I truly believe this is the single most important structural thing we need to fix for the club to be set up for success.

I want to be successful - I'm really god damn sick of this.

Consistent mediocrity.
i'm serious - obviously your not - people keep saying the licence should be revoked but how about they put up on what grounds they think the NRL could revoke the licence. They don't even revoke licences of teams that are repeat salary cap cheaters.

Distressing an asset, the name and logo rights belong to the NRL. V’landys is all about growing and strengthing assets in NRL’s ownership. If one their properties is not reaching its full profitable potential I’m sure one of their suits could find cause to take the license back.

The game is absolutely flying commercially and in viewership & we seem to get worse

It’s thriving on media drama.
The AFL doesn’t have nearly as much drama as the NRL. I think a lot of that has to do with how player movement is done. They save all of that for the post season. There are no mid season signings, or players playing full seasons with a club, having already signed elsewhere the following year. NRL is the only sport in the world who operates this way, and it’s a big reason why the game is a soap opera.

Adam Doueihi was incredibly happy to re-sign with the club in March, only a few months back. Wonder what has changed at the club since then.

His camp have been trying to create a narrative all weekend.

He stuffed up. Period.
This is correct.

It was Adam’s selfishness that caused the issue. He didn’t want to play lock. I believe Benji is trying to take the heat off Adam by saying Benji was the one to stand Adam down because he wasn’t in the right head space. I strongly suspect Adam pulled out.

Then Isaac Moses has tried to limit the damage by using his media contacts (Riccio and Weidler) for damage control I.e. it wasn’t about moving to lock, there’s bigger issues, Adam loves the club, Adam paid his own air fare to watch the boys play at the Gold Coast when he was injured, blah blah blah (in his Sunday column Weidler even managed to suggest Flanno should be an assistant at the Tigers and he reported that Galvin did a good community deed - both Moses clients of course).

The 96 hours has allowed Isaac to ring around and see what other clubs will pay for Douhie and for how long. And what’s on offer at other clubs will determine whether Adam stays or not. If there’s a better offer on the table he’s gone. If not, he’ll stay.

It’s the Isaac Moses play book. Seen it too many times now.

Well its been almost an hour since the meeting.

No leaks yet.

Has to be a sign he isnt going anywhere
Wow you know what time the meeting actually started , I wasn’t even sure it was today , can’t believe the grub jernos , well if it was 1 hour ago I would predict it to go for another hour , plenty bullshit to get through , plus there is the coach , CEO , player , player manager , probably tigers board member or 2 and also couple from HBG. They make sure they get the cup of tea and cake after the meeting maybe some ham and cheese Sangos

Its a tongue in cheek comment from fans who have had enough. Obviously the license isn't going to be revoked but it should be. WT's are the worst run sporting operation in Australia and have been for years (except Richo's brief spell). I am disgusted with the place.
