Adam Doueihi #227

Old St Pats boy, what do U expect.
Should have sent his ass to
Christian Brothers Lewisham lol.
Seriously though, he plays a lot
Like a rugby union fly half sits
Back, runs the ball and doesn't
like tackling much. Loves the club
and coming off the reco. We'll
see him in better form next year

I don’t see one person sticking up for douehi after that performance. Even his supporters. Compare that to the fan boys of brooks who will stick up for a non performing $1.1million a year player no matter what he does.
I feel that I have remained objective on both players, standing up for and criticising both in reasonable balance. Halves can only ever consistently do that which their forwards allow, as we saw again last night.

For mine it is simply the case of the shiny new toy that always had glaring limitations losing it's gloss, particularly defensively and the exaggerated opinion of oneself. Understandable though for many to look past, as us WT fans are looking for any glimmer of hope after more than a decade of disappointment.

Hastings was no different. Was soon worked out as a half in the NRL, then getting a lot of it back when moved into the role he was suited and signed to fill.

I have always maintained that Brooks remained our best half, and that Hastings would be an organising ball feeding lock.

Been saying this for weeks…you can tell how the game will pan out after the first set…
I would say this…

When a team is better than you, but you turn up to play, they may beat you by 20 because of a sheer mismatch in quality, but if a team is better than you AND you just go through the motions, you’ll cop a hiding. That’s what happened last night…our general apathy in everything we did cost us 40-50 points.

1 - Brooks has never been that poor
2 - It's not sticking up for Brooks arguing against idiots that try to tell you Madden is the future
3 - Point above has been well and truly put to bed... Send him back to Ressies to do nothing there
4 - Brooks is still the best half at the club, And the best we can get by the looks of it.
1. Brooks has lost us more games then doueihi has and ever will
2. Brooks has had 8 years to prove himself as a leading half earning $1million a year and still hasn’t delivered.
4. The misssing link is Hastings not brooks. Hastings has shown us more in half a season then brooks has in 8. Having Hastings with madden and doueihi we actually looked good.

Certainly don’t think he deserves the vitriol being aimed at him last night and today.

I have never in my life seen a worse defensive performance. On top of that he has made it really clear he expects the 6 jersey and to be a leader of this team.

Prior to the last two games he’s shown he can be a real attacking weapon.

He has played 1/2 game since coming back which showed how good he can be when running the footy. That output simply isn't good enough or anywhere close to being good enough.

He is apparently on 650k per year. Just let that sink in.

Doueihi if he stays will be imo playing within a framework from Sheens. He did it with Rob Lui who wasn't the finished product (on-field) when he played first grade. Working with Brooks and Hastings plus the addition of Papali'i on the right he will find his confidence (especially returning from an ACL)l

Will be interesting to see what impact, if any, Benji can have on Brooks( looking like Brooks staying).
Assume he will be attack coach coz he couldn’t tackle either!
That leaves Robbie with the forwards.
At least Robbie won’t be able to slag the defence coach.
And Tim, he has to be the ringmaster and pull it all together. Interesting times ahead.

I will be interested to see Benji's impact on all our halves. Also the impact of Sheens. I'm sure there is a lot of work going on behind the scenes preparing for next year.
