Adam Doueihi #227

Adam Doueihi insists he is keen to play centre as he works to repay the Wests Tigers for sticking by him through a horror run of injuries.

Doueihi has previously voiced preferences to play in the halves, even once telling then-coach Brett Kimmorley he would rather be dropped to reserve grade than start elsewhere.

If he doesn't improve his defense his best position will be left right out.

His defence has been deplorable for quite a long time, only he can fix it as i am sure the coaching staff have been in his ear about it for quite a while
It's been terrible his whole career. At Souths it was overlooked because he was a rookie trying to find his place. Then he played fullback here and we didnt need to see his decision making in the front line. Once he was moved to 6 it became evident the bloke couldn't defend. Still it was overlooked, partially because it coincided with a great highlight reel in attack and partially because many wanted to overpraise him in order to dismiss Brooks. It has only been since his injuries have limited his contribution to the team that everyone now takes issue with his defence.
I do somewhat agree that only he can fix it but i also question how much time since moving to the front line he/the coaching staff have been dedicated to his defence. He has spent a lot of time in rehab with getting his body right a priority over getting his defensive decision-making right. The one off-season he was fit was spent with Sheens' 100 passes a day whilst defence seemingly went out the window.
I'm not a Doueihi fan and never have been but i don't think there is no hope he can greatly improve his defence. I just hope he proves it in reserve grade before earning a first grade spot or worse yet a renewed contract.

Great take on AD. He needs to prove he can defend before he gets a gig in FG again.

Good Post
- I don't miss the days of him being referred to as The King.
Has Openly said in Media interviews he hates tackling.
Not sure what could ever be done to fix that mentality.

For most of his career, I've been 50/50 on him getting there...
I'm no that optimistic these days, I think he should go to the ESL
- Just don't see much light at the end of an NRL tunnel for him.

I think he’s smart enough to know that the only chance he’s got is to shut up and put up. I’ve always had a soft spot for him and personally would be happy for him to explode into the right centre/ goal kicker position.
I guess only time will tell with so many positions in 2025, this being one of them.
