Benji is pretty clear on who the long term 7 will be. He was also clear that there is no plan to rush Latu's development. I personally would have preferred him to play most of this season in Cup to develop his game as a half. He certainly hasn't set the world on fire recently but he has the skills and, with time, could be one of the better halves in the competition.

There will be some great depth and pressure in and around 6/7 next year with the recent buys. AD may make it as a 13 if his atitude to defence, taking hitups and the kick chase improve drastically. It would be significantle less risk for us if we were to buy in a 13 (if one becomes available). He can fill a role until we get what we need but his effort areas really need to improve for him to be valuable.

As it stands I think he has pretty much hit his "glass" ceiling. If he can look in the mirror and realise that what is holding him back is his own effort he could become a quality addition - at the moment - too much of a risk.

Latu is just inconsistent. Comes with being a 20 year old half. Actually, I wouldn’t even call him inconsistent, cos that implies he’s had bad games and he hasn’t. Just had games where he hasn’t had much impact. But that’s only because he’s 20.

Agreed but I did like LF's enthusiasm and spirit when he came on. His defence was quite strong too.

Same as Galvin..they will both have many more good games ithan bad in the future
Signing of AD means we dont need to ush Latus future..he will certainly get his opportunities

I think Benji has shown us his plan for the rest of the season. AD and Latu will share the position and 13 depending on the situation.

I reckon it's nice for once to have a little bit of flexibility available in the halves, even with Galvin leaving.

Two more years: Wests Tigers revise offer for Adam Doueihi​

Wests Tigers have ramped up negotiations with Adam Doueihi by stretching their offer to a second year.

Doueihi was a standout for the Tigers during Sunday’s 28-14 upset over the Bulldogs, and will no doubt use the bye round to weigh up whether he accepts the club’s revised deal, or entertains a move to St George Illawarra.

The Dragons have already met with Doueihi who view him as an ideal No. 13 for Parramatta-bound Jack de Belin.

The Tigers’ initially tabled a one-year extension worth around $350,000 a season, and now added the 2027 season at the same money.

Tigers CEO Shane Richardson said on Monday: “We’ve offered Adam a two-year deal, and it’s our final offer. If he doesn’t accept it, we’ll have to move on. We haven’t put a timeline on it. We’ll see what happens.”

Jarome Luai and Latu Fainu are viewed as the long-term halves at the Tigers. Doueihi is a ball-playing lock forward.

Coach Benji Marshall shifted Doueihi to halfback against the Dogs before kick-off, and said his experience was what the club needed in what was always going to be an emotive game.

Marshall said his post-match press conference how important it was the club kept Doueihi: “We’ve been talking quite often with Adam, and we’ve made him an offer to stay.”

No player looks more shattered on the field after any given loss than Douehi, who at 26 has emerged as one of the club’s leaders, which was evident when TV cameras captured him laying down the law to the group as they huddled in the middle of CommBank Stadium. (SMH)

No brainer to re-sign him.

He could end up a good 13. He can play winning footy in the halves. He can fill in at any backline position and he's a great fit for the 14. Most importantly he's stayed injury free this year.

Truthfully, I was critical about him earlier in the year as he was average in the centres, but he's been our best half each time he's played there. He's slowly getting his pace back so with one more injury free offseason, there's every chance he continues to improve as a player.

Totally agree...its crazy to think that we will be paying Bud about the same $$ to play for Souths next 2 seasons as were offering AD!!!They are miles apart,particularly if u factor on goalkicking
Amd Ill subtract some for ADs past 3 seasons of mediocrity...but like Blore.think hes finally over it
