Not sure whether we're supposed to be excited about getting a team's 3rd best winger? Yeah its a signing but just feels like an old habit creeping back in.

someone else mentioned he met with WT last night.

At Souths he will be their third choice winger.

With us he would be first choice FB.

That is a huge difference.Bennet is a master at moving them on...

Will be very surprising if he stays imo.

great loyalty shown by the bunnies. :cold_sweat: :cold_sweat: :confounded: :confounded: :-1:

look at this thread, you can feel the anticipation with tigers fans, we surging to page 70!!! after it was announced we were looking at him in 2019

Again, is it a recruitment issue or simply a ridiculous run of bad luck. We have tried for DWZ…:Moylan…Lomax…Lattrell…AJ…

Actually interrogate the list though.

DWZ, if I'm not mistaken, Panthers blocked a potential transfer to Tigers? And we may have not had the required cap space at the time he became available.

Moylan nothing has officially ever happened. Media comments only about potential links, but Moylan says he wants to stay where he is.

Lomax, nothing official, but rumour says we talked to him and he ended up on a big deal at St George.

Latrell we know.

AJ - again nothing official, don't know if Tigers ever made an offer.

So you talk to a bunch of blokes, but as far as we know, only Latrell did we officially make an offer.

AJ the souths winger shopped to Gold Coast they said No

Lol

Cause he’s garbage

83 tries from 123 games. if you think he's garbage i'd hate to think what you thought of our wingers.

Well lets compare him to one of our wingers.

AJ, at Souffs has scored 83 from 123, a strike rate of 67%.

Robert Jennings, at Souffs, scored 24 from 34, a strike rate of 70%.

Robert Jennings, at Tigers Scored 6 from 18, a strike rate of 33%.

For mine that parallel is strong. I reckon Johnston would have about the same contribution as RJ and less than CT.

Glenn I don’t know what happened to Jennings. When he got to the Tigers he was overweight and with the speed of an echidna.

That’s kind of my point. I don’t think RJ is anything special, same with AH and I think Douiehi is barely a step up. When you have Burgess et al bashing at the defence close to the line, it’s not a stretch for a winger to catch and fall over the line

How does anyone not see that AJ is a far superior player to any of our wingers? He's faster and more elusive than any back in out top 30. A walk up start to the backs.

Is Douehi even fast? He's reminds me of a Ben Galea/Duckworth/Anasta type rangy 5/8.

He was a halfback for Balmain. Where does all the excitement for him at fullback get based on?

Id still talk to Douehi. We cant offer him a contract yet, but surely we can meet him and tell him if we were in a posiiton to offer a contract, itd be something like 350k/400k a year for 3 years.

If WT dont know how to do that, ask Cows or Eels.

To be fair, Rabbits bought most of those blokes before they became rep footballers.

But gee, if you are including Doueihi and the like, then sure, Tigers have a bunch of those "rep" players as well: Nofo, Chee Kam, Twal, ET, Aloiai, Joseph Ratu etc.

Pay Macqueen and one other to leave. Get proactive and change things up.

Doesn't work that way mate. If you are paying McQueen out and he's one of your higher earners, then he's Top 30 by default.

Ben Galea rangy?

I agree Doueihi is rangy, the others you mention pretty stocky fellows.

Not rangy but Duckworth and Anastasia were “big” for 5/8.

Duckworth was such a skilful player. Unlucky to be part of probably the weakest team in history

So true re: Duckworth, how sad that we had to play him at 5/8 because we were so weak. Wouldve excelled at a better side at 13.

RJ didn’t have off season training and wasn’t apart of our structure until late. Look at him now compared to last season and very different. He started getting better back end of the season. Is he top line talent no but hard to compare situations.

AJ could of been a good pickup but I just don’t see him as a fullback and outside of someone like JAC we shouldn’t spend the cash AJ would want on a winger - be another Mbye cost burn situation (sign as a fullback wage and never play there).

Quote: AJ has a big offer from the Tigers in hand. He has until Friday to accept. Not sure of his intentions or desires, however he would be absolutely crazy not to take it in my opinion.

FWIW
