i know this is terrible, but it is a very rare occurrence in the modern game. a very harsh penalty should be dealt out and i think that will be sufficient.
im sure mclean and the bromwich boys feel shattered that this happened. no one would want this to happen.
as for calling held early well that takes away any hope of an offload.
it was just an unfortunate accident, and one im sure a lot of players will learn from.

Is it a matter of no more lifting. You can't lift a player into touch. Into the in goal. How spear tackles happen into touch or in goal? So why not just stop lifting in general play? Soon as a players legs come off the ground they're held.
