Alex Seyfarth #232

I think he has too much Kyle Lovett about him. Dominate junior but ultimately was too small as a forward and too slow as a back.

Some people write off young blokes far to early.Yes its possible he is a complete dud(most never reach their potential)but i wouldnt give up with him just yet

I'm not trying to be negative ..but even in some of the players we've been unimpressed with they've shown us something ....haven't seen anything on field yet ...I can't believe we let McIntyre go ...he has so much upside compared to Seyfarth

I've seen Seyfarth play through SG Ball. Imo he is a second row forward. He played his best football in the second row, with a very high work rate and a good turn of pace in the clear. I'd like to see him given a go in the second row.

Respectfully Paws ..if he can't cope laterally in the middle 3rd ..he will get eaten alive on an edge

Very few players come through to the NRL without being found out in some aspect of RL. He needs to work hard and from what I have read he does. I believe a forward of his height, stamina and good pace can do damage running wide of the ruck especially with the ability to unload, I believe he will be good for us and was good in ISP.

Apart from learning to read the game ...getting speed either flat line or laterally is probably the toughest things

And the one thing that would help him become better laterally would be reading the game quicker ...give yourself time and not being reactive

Is he that small? I’ve seen pictures of him and he’s looked massive. He’s listed at 194cm tall and 100kg so he’s not a small guy.

There’s no downside in signing him, dirt cheap, has shown he’ll do well in reserves and has the potential to become a solid first grader. Was thrown in too early, it’s hard to make impact as a young forward in the Nrl.

Only a year deal so if he doesn’t improve we can move on from him.

He’s massive dude . He just doesn’t have the muscle mass yet . That really can take until youre 23-25 ish to really bulk up , especially for us anglos .
I had high hopes for him last year, I too watched him the year before in CC cup, and he was dominant. I didn’t even notice McIntyre was on the field just for reference .
I’d say , hes seen , that some of the things that made him dominant in lower grades , Or his deficiencies not being exposed, won’t fly in NRL , and will adjust accordingly .

One thing is Seyfarths favour, he definitely is not too small. He has a big frame, much bigger than Packer.

Agree with Tiger5150.Madge knows what it takes to make a good side.Storm-huge forwards,Souths when he won premiership wih 3 big poms.Easts fell short because they were missing. You need the big boys up front,Seyfarth is big and getting bigger.

I always thought he was a backrower. I don't always agree with trying to turn these types into front rowers. He just doesn't have enough size to dominate the middle of the fiel yet. Put him on edge and he might be a bit more effective.

Wests Tigers are pleased to announce that local junior Alex Seyfarth has signed a new playing contract with the club.

The two-year deal will see Seyfarth remain in Wests Tigers colours until at least the end of the 2023 NRL season.

A local junior of the club through Dundas Shamrocks, Seyfarth has progressed through the ranks at Wests Tigers; named the club’s Jersey Flegg Player of the Year in 2018 before stepping up to the reserve-grade competition the following year.

The physical forward would make his first-grade debut in Round 3 of the 2020 season — going on to feature in four games in his rookie year — before playing 11 games in 2021, including by his first NRL try against the Dragons in Round 12.

The 22-year-old said he was delighted to re-sign with Wests Tigers.

“I’m really happy to be able to stay on with the club for another couple of years,” Seyfarth said.

“I grew up always wanting to play for Wests Tigers and it’s dream come true to continue my playing future here. I’m really enjoying what we’re building at the club and I’m keen to play my part in bringing success to our Members and fans moving forward.”

Wests Tigers Coach Michael Maguire said he was pleased to see Seyfarth continue his rugby league career with Wests Tigers.

“I’m really pleased to see Alex extend his playing future with Wests Tigers,” Maguire said.

Alex loves the Wests Tigers jersey and shows a fierce passion and pride for Wests Tigers every time he takes the field.

Coach Michael Maguire
"He is an example for all our local juniors of the pathways we want to continue here, and I look forward to watching him take the next steps of his rugby league career at this club.”

Wests Tigers CEO Justin Pascoe congratulated Alex on his new contract with the club.

“On behalf of all at the club, I’d like to say how we pleased we are to see Alex commit to the club for a further two seasons with Wests Tigers,” Pascoe said. “He is a fine young man, respectful and polite off the field and a fierce competitor on it. and continually demonstrates the characteristics we want this club to be known by.

“As a proud local junior, Alex is passionate about delivering success to Wests Tigers and we’re looking forward to watching him continue to develop in the coming years.”

🔥 BIG RED 💯

He's under rated, improving and has a high ceiling.

This is a very big positive for our club.

He'll do us proud.
