Alex Twal #206

Hey if he can produce even close to those numbers in 1sts why not start him at lock? That would free up ET & McQueen to hold down the backrow for the full 80.

Yeah his work rate and tackle efficiency is what makes me think he could be an option at lock. He's not likely to have much impact in attack as a 20-21 year old prop without massive size on his side but he can do a job taking some tradesman-like hitups and sharing the load.

I absolutely agree he could be a long term lock.

I'm sure he'll start off the bench in round 1, but I'd like to see him playing lock with 2 big boppers starting and another 2 off the bench.

Just a reminder - for those that can watch. Alex is playing wt @ 1.10pm on foxsports.

It's all about the future Geo, don't you know that by now? Of course the world could end anytime soon and next season may never even come, but we have to look to the future anyway because the present is so crap!

Been watching him on and off he's solid defensively plays big minutes i don't think he's what you'd classify as an impact prop more of a worker. I havent noticed his runs overly much but ive havent watched the entire game.

Needs to put on more weight to play 1st grade in the front row imo. He's still young so will fill out nicely. Cleary will probably blood him later in 2018 or early 2019

watched him play on sat , was not impressed at all, dont think he will be much better than what we got at present.

Only a young fellow ….. so expectations should not be too high for year or two.
The coach will take town and blood him slowly. Otherwise he will get eaten up and spat out by those NRL hardhead forwards.

He looked like a plodder. No speed, limited impact, lack of offloading, slow play the balls. Buchanan had similar impacts in lower grades. I hope I am wrong, he has had big wraps on him for a while now, but it is a big step up to NRL. Hopefully given injuries, he gets a look in at Parramatta this year

Wests Tigers have today confirmed the signing of Alex Twal, effective immediately.

Twal will join Wests Tigers this week and is eligible for selection for Wests Tigers’ Round 16 game against the Gold Coast Titans.

The 20-year-old was already signed to Wests Tigers for three years commencing in 2018 but will join the club earlier.

A junior representative standout, Twal has already featured for the Junior Kangaroos and NSW U/20s in his career, and was named in the 2016 Holden Cup Team of the Year after a superb season with Parramatta.

The Parramatta City Titans junior has spent the last two seasons as part of the Eels’ extended first-grade squad, and played for Wentworthville Magpies against Wests Tigers last weekend.

Wests Tigers CEO Justin Pascoe welcomed Twal to the club.

“We were really happy to announce Alex’s signing last month and to have him join us early is an added boost,” said Pascoe. “Alex has had a great year so far and will provide additional cover and depth for Wests Tigers over the remainder of the year.”
