Ok guys I know I am probably considered the voice of doom in here. However I like to see the team do well like all Tigers fans. In the last couple of weeks I see plenty of our fans and now the coach are saying Tigers players get snubbed for origin. We don't want to become a pack of whingers. Overall our past 4 seasons have not warranted much attention and if anything deserve a snub. When the rep teams were picked this year 6 weeks ago we were in a horror patch of form.
I see plenty of fans want to have a go at Rothfield's article saying we have taken advantage of a rails road draw during the origin. We have gone fdrom 4-5 and tottering to 8-5 and 3rd place. I think Rothfield is a hack like most. However his points are valid. We have been uninterupted and won 4 games in a row against poor opposition. I am not bagging our team here, we did our job very efficently picking up 4 relatively cheap wins when no one was watching so to speak. They are the cheap dirty wins you need in the middle of the season to take the pressure out at the back end. Now is when the draw gets alot tougher and we will see whether the players have learnt from the previous 4 seasons. We have not beaten any side featuring anywhere near the Top 8 in the last month and now our footy team will be tested.
Facts are though we have a lot to prove as a team and as an individual group of players. The fact that we have missed the finals the last 4 seasons is why not many of our players feature in rep football, and why Sheens is still under pressure. If this team had been perched in the Top 4 for a few seasons we would of had guys like Heighto, Galloway and Lawrence and co represent. Winning clubs with winning cultures over a period of time generally get rewarded by the rep selectors. We have to go out and do that.
I just think all this whinging about the Tigers being snubbed is not really justified. 4 seasons of failure for me means no one should be shouting from the rooftops. Sure we are 3rd at the moment but that is with 2 byes in a close comp with plenty left to do. The team and the players need to earn their stripes so to speak. 11 games left and by the end if we have as good a players and coach as we think we do, we will be sitting in the top 4 and attacking the premiership. We have positioned ourselves well but the pressure games are still to come. I think we can do it this year, but i don't think the "poor tigers why do they snub us" attitude is justified. Get the job done boys and the benefits will flow on from that,.
