I love Josh one of my fav players but 500k thats the same proce as haas.

Signed it as an 18yo, 6 years. good business by Broncs.

Just for some perspective, if they are offering Josh $350K then the 10% counter-offer is $35K. Can anyone here imagine being offered a $35K pay increase in a single contract negotiation cycle?

Even $250K would be a $25K hike.

We have to also remember that the NRL are proposing a salary cap reduction of $1M from 2021 in order to save jobs in the game. I haven't seen if the proposal has been ratified, but they were talking about 10% reduction in player salaries moving forward.

I'm sure Josh is finding it challenging, any of us would. I also suspect if the club did indeed put a 24h deadline on him, they either think they have the upper hand (wrt Aloiai having other options) or they've hit their ceiling and can't offer him any more money.

I recall very many fans on here calling for the club to place deadlines / ultimatums on potential signings that have dragged on and they may actually have done it here.

I also wonder personally - a bloke like Josh, he wasn't signed on by Madge or Hartigan. They obviously value him enough to offer re-signing, but they are judging him on revised expectations, not the ones of his original recruiters. For a team that's failing to make the finals year on year, it would be great to keep guys like Aloiai and Huth and Sam Mc, but the reality is they aren't taking us to the next level, right?

Surely this has been made up by some 1 to see how far they can push this story into the media surely the club couldn’t be that ruthless

If you were his friend you wouldn't put his business out like that in public. 10% upgrade is huge In footy speak. 1 decent season doesn't make you a premier forward. Samoan international yeah, Keaon Koloamatangi has shown more promise with a quarter of the budget. He's a Burwood boy too.

10% increase when you’re on a modest contract? Going into the prime of your career?
I’m not gonna argue my friendship with him

Thank you for sharing this insight, it’s interesting that we give the elite guys months to make decisions but club stalwarts much less.

I’m only mentioning it because of today’s news about McIntyre. There has to be some sort of disconnect between Management and Coach because Josh has always had a great relationship with Madge. Maybe Hartigan is realising when you’re not at the Chooks, things work differently

Hey mate , can I ask a question ? I believe you , so I’m going to ask , why doesn’t Josh just prove it this year ? I get he has a young family and needs his future secured , but seriously , most on here in the lockdown period were saying “who cares “ . I didn’t agree , but , that was the common sentiment about josh . I was stoked he took the step up this year , But he’s hardly been a world beater prior to this . I get your point , but I don’t think it’s disloyalty , considering how average we’ve been for so long .

Physically, Josh has given his all here. The 24hr deadline crushed him but because negotiations dragged, November 1 passed and more than one Club showed immediate interest. Perfect storm for a disillusioned guy

Take the money personally . His career is short , and our window isn’t now . Like I said , I rate him , but he’s been a big part of a losing side . I was hoping he would be our forward leader , but I really don’t see how he can be so upset considering where the club is at , and , how until this year , honestly how average his play has been. It’s harsh , but honest feedback . And I say that’s exactly how the club feels . That last 10 weeks was diabolical . Defensively the team gave up at times , and mostly it was in the middle third and benjis lack of tackling. There has to be some accountability for that .

The beauty of this forum mate, everyone’s entitled to their opinion

Yep definitely . I appreciate your sharing this though . And I appreciate josh for his effort . But I’m not going to bag the club for drawing lines in the sand . The giving 24 hrs is piss poor though, and really seems unnecessarily cold , especially considering we didn’t or haven’t signed anyone instead , which would make sense if you think about it .

Yep. The deadline was a shocking unnecessary move

So that was Hartigan ? Seems like he just wants to put a broom through the place to be honest . I can’t really blame him . I get the loyalty , but we really are treading water . I would have thought josh was a keeper though

It was Hartigan.

Honestly mate, I don't think this is something you should be sharing on here. I would keep information my mate shared with me private as you do not know who reads these forums.

Were all on here because we love the Wests Tigers. I think we’re still as dysfunctional as we’ve always been. I don’t post things Josh tells me on here because it would merely be for gossip sake. But we are perennial losers and I hate that our Management isn’t up to scratch. I thought everyone deserved to know this one

Thanks for info. Our mamagement hasn't been upto scratch for a long time. Hopefully thins change and Aloiai stays.

We want professionalism and a hard edge, it has arrived if this news is true. Is this why the Roosters are so successful?

Maybe it should be pushed into the media. Management at the club are a disgrace with the way they handle things.

Regardless of management, if true, at least our club is not letting itself be held to ransom anymore.

I have not made up a word. What people’s opinion of what a players value is,will differ to what a Clubs opinion is. That is the Clubs prerogative. It’s the handling of the situations(Aloiai and McIntyre) that is in question.
The process was bungled in both cases, putting my friendship aside, this annoys me as a fan

Agree. After reading this thread I can’t understand why anyone would want to play for us.

So, as a "friend", you told Aloiai you were going to divulge contract matters on this forum? And, is McIntyre your "friend" as well? How do you know how his contract matters were managed?

The timing seems just a little bit too "convenient" for me to take you seriously. As a fan (and member) I don't feel the outrage you do.

If he wants to chase the dollars elsewhere, then see you later Joshie boy.

If he can get extra money elsewhere, good luck to him, it’s his career. Putting a 24hr deadline on a player who’s been here 5 seasons is dumb. The Pom must post convenient stories too because he wasn’t glowing in his assumption of Managment yesterday either

Players are being pushed out of every club we just dont care about that and look at it as opportunity. You can't keep banging on about mediocrity and then also complain when the club takes a hard line.
I feel uncomfortable about this information too but more of the same means exactly that.

He's just started blooming after
5 seasons... let him go to Manly.
AFB replacement is an delusion.

Exactly, how long was Mansour at Penrith? Farah was SOO hooker when basically punted here, we as interested bystanders but don't have a clue was is happening behind the scenes, we have screamed for change, it appears we are getting it, some of it is unpalatable but results are everything, we need to wait for end of 2021 season to judge.
