This may be the inappropriate place for it, but I have a question, and it sort of relates to Mr Josh Aloiai.

I understand why we have to be careful and not post personal information on a public forum. But is there a way that we can, on a not-so-public forum?

Can there be an extension of this forum, (just a thread perhaps) where people can post all that juicy good stuff, but it's not open to the public? Have it so that only vetted members can view that thread (keep the journos out). I'm not sure how we could vet people, some people here have personally met others here, but I suspect that's only about maybe a dozen.

It might be a pipe dream, it may not be feasible, but worth asking.

Great idea

But can it work??

Would be awesome

I like Josh and hope the club can sort this, we don't have many players that can bend the line like he does. I'd be offering him 350k.

My feeling exactly, but how much does Josh expect? is 350 the amount Josh is offended by? (not being a smartie, but it seems there has been a gap in the story about what he was offered and what he wants.)

For mine, we should be paying overs for Burton on a long term deal? It’s not without risk, but it’s a better strategy than not having one. Or being a pension scheme.
I’m confident Burton can win you NRL games and wins will help solve that key issue.

How much is overs ? I mean 500k is a big chunk out of your salary cap. We've got players delivering close to nothing on more than that.

If he becomes an elite five eight in the NRL then 500 is cheap, roll the dice.

I completely agree. The big question is will be become an elite 6 ? Is it better to bet on AD ?

I don't have a problem with throwing around that sort of money but you can't do it a lot. You only get so many rolls of the dice.

It may backfire, but would we be any worse off than where we are now? Chasing Jimmy the jet and front rowers leaking to forums. FGS!

The problem is I reckon we only have 1 shot at the moment. We are holding that money out for someone like Latrell or JAC. Maybe we could use a chunk of change on someone like Burton. To be fair the club purchase AD last year who is also expensive for the stage of career that he is at. AD though to me is a much better deal than Reynolds, Mbye and Packer.

I think AD earned his pay packet last year. Along with Aloiai, Nofa and Luciano. Probably a few others on minimal dollars including McIntyre.

We must have a mottsa to spend for 2022 and this will make or break the club.

Wish I had confidence in the club to get it right but sadly they don’t have the runs on the board.

I think the problem is we've stuffed our cap. So our most highly paid players aren't performing. That is mainly Cleary signings that are coming off our books soon.

Those guys you mentioned have performed. We should be trying to keep them on the right dollars. McIntyre only really performed on a low contract. Aloiai and LL were the two forwards who were great. The huth was good as well. ET had his moments.

The Huth and ET would be good depth players in a quality footy team, they just won’t win you matches when surrounded by similar plodders.

Spoke to Josh today and showed him what I posted.

Mate - I'd just delete those posts. I like Aloiai and I don't think this publicity is good for him. It's personal information on a public forum. Top player and I hope he stays. If he goes good luck to him.

He’s well aware the posts on here. Club’s meeting with him and management this week and I hope they can all resolve it.

I hope they resolve it. Tell him he is a legend and he should stay. Awesome player and he comes across as a good guy.

I’ll let him know. The last thing I want to do is make anyone on the forum uncomfortable. I’ll delete my original post.

Just a question in multiple posts you mentioned the 24 hour deadline and in others you have mentioned that WTs made the approach and that negotiations have been dragged out do we know how long they were dragged out before the deadline was given?
Not doubting your info and I hope things get worked out for Josh but it does feel like it's become common practice that if negotiations are stalling that deadlines are given by most clubs although I can't remember a 24 hour one from the top of my head

Unless the club has some miraculous plan to improve its forward pack, they'd have to be nuts to let Josh go. Unless I'm mistaken he was one of our best forwards in 2020 and one of the few who can dent the line.

It sounds like Madge isn't included in a lot of these meetings. I think its time he might be best off insisting that he attend.

Perhaps read his Instagram posts over the last 6 months or so and you might get a better measure of the man and his mindset, as opposed to the heartfelt bleetings of a "friend" on here.

Because if his opinion on anything is different to yours, he’s obviously wrong.

I can see that players will need to be ‘given’ points for best and fairest from now on.

Seems getting only 1 point has really upset Josh.

I fear we might lose a few more players because there must be a few who didn’t score even 1 point all year.

Why can't we be like under7s where everybody gets a trophy.

I have to admit the Seyfarth vs McIntyre thing is true . I watched a few games last year of ISP and seyfarth looked like he was a step above , if lacking a bit of strength due to age and development. He really put in in the covid break which lead to his debut . Also I’m pretty sure he was the 20s captain during his run there .
But McIntyre outplayed him for sure ,this year . Maybe the analytics team has evaluated Macca to have minimal upside. Whereas with seyfarth his potential is really intriguing .

Has the deadline placed on Josh by Wests Tigers to accept the extension passed..?

If so have they withdrawn the offer ..

Will he then be at another Club from 2022..?

This off season is getting better and better

??

It’s been entertaining. Last years off-season was full of hope that eventually went pear shaped whereas this off-season has been a dumpster fire from the outset.

I love it.
Last year had me hooked on every post right up until late January with the whole will he won’t he of Latrell’s decision.
This year had been a delight. The season ran a bit over but the tigers have done a fantastic job in this short pre pre season to temper my enthusiasm and help me look forward to actually spend the offseason enjoying other activities.

Thank you Tigers. I’ll be checking in around June when all the mid season talk picks up and we may manage to pick a roughie off the dump pile to help us avoid 16th spot.

Where is the meeting, I think this calls for a fan rally. I am not sure we have been able to organise one since Robbie was shipped out.

:grinning:

Hopefully situation can be resolved. I think all fans agree he has progressed well last few years and turning into a leader and positive spokesman for the club. Appears to be a quality person, who has enjoyed the club and good calm head to have around. Let’s hope he resigns for a price that works for club and player.

Josh needs better mates. If a mate of mine posted details of my negotiations with my employer on a public forum, I'd never talk to them again. The only offensive part of the Tigers negotiations with Aloiai that @tiga4eva posted is the 24hr deadline which sounds ridiculous but none of us, not even Joshs mate know the background to this, Aloiai might not even. Could just as well be that his manager was stringing us out and the club (potentially quite rightly) said enough is enough.
