Suspiciously quiet IMO. Noticed something 2 days ago. @tiga4eva when asked by avocadoontoast if Aloiai is leaving, Tiga4eva's response was........"I’m not sure, but I seriously doubt he ***ever wants to pull our jersey on again***. He’s still contracted for 2021".

Curious turn of phrase, strangely prophetic? #ratintheranks?

EDIT: Just noticed @needaname had already made this observation. I was a bit late.

Here's a thought......Maybe @tiga4eva is Josh!!!! Da Na!!!!!!!!!!

Do you blokes really think the principal of Brydens is going to let anyone break a contract without adequate compensation and conditions for his club?

Didn't seem to help for Matterson, did it?

Matterson left in October. Lee didn't take over until Nov.19. There's a new sheriff in town now.

Where is @tiga4eva when you need him (or her)? I'd like an authoritative update on what led Josh to (allegedly) make his comments today? Perhaps just summarise his/her last 6 or so chats with him today will be sufficient. No need for grandstanding now.

What comments?

True , but one guy quietly asked for a release , the other “is never playing for us again “ . Esan left last year , and no one cared . It was good luck to you mate . It’s the whole “how dare you not want to pay me what this other club wants to pay me “ crap. Most clubs will pay 100k over to pry a player away . Manly want to pay his 250k more .

Yea , it’s almost verbatim to the word . As if it’s a phrase someone wanted out there in the land of the inter webs .

I can’t blame players for accepting bigger money deals at different clubs, footy is a business and it’s a short career

What’s absolutely disgusting is when players sign a deal a year in advance and then carry on, bad mouth their club to the media and become spoiled brats in order to get an early release. It’s absolutely classless and they shouldn’t be allowed to break their contracts

We aren’t winning a premiership next season so there’s absolutely no reason to let him go. The NRL need to make sure that if a player gets an early release they WONT be able to earn more money than their current contract.

What do you do about the brown paper bags?

I dont see a problem with it at all. Esan Marsters is the perfect example. Esan comes to the club and says "Guys NQ have offered me $XXX, a lot more than you guys, can you match it?" ....Club says no sorry mate we cant value you at that, good luck though and you can go early.

Big difference though if the club is kept out of negotiations, isnt given last chance to match etc and the manager has dealt with it badly. Kepaoa, Blore other examples. If the Tigers can be above board with Penrith and strike a deal that suits Penrith and the players, happy days.

Meanwhile you have Stephen Humphries lying through his teeth that nothing was discussed for 2021. Contrast with the Storms press release regarding JAC where they thanked the Tigers for the professional, honest and up front way they approached negotiations.

I know that its de rigueur to dump on Tigers management from a great height but I happy that they have the right principles in this regards and I think in the long run we benefit from it with better relations with the professional clubs (Roosters, Penrith let players come here early, Storm played ball with the Grant swap etc).

I'll openly admit that's me. For no other reason other than I want WT to finish as high as possible in 2021.

I don't really care about the soap opera around honouring contracts or not honouring contracts. We should be focused on winning the same way as Melbourne are.

Thought of that, or Tyran Smith.

I called him on his offer to show us the documentation at the ground. I suggested he could send the documentation in a DM. Something fishy that he would show us in person but not in a DM.

If we manage to not release Aloiai then I think its another step in the right direction. I say another as I do believe we held our ground with JAC by not trading them one of our players

It’s how it’s handled if he went to the Tigers and advised he was leaving for more money in 2022-23 behind closed doors and advised I would like to leave early and assist in compensating the club financially and or the agent helping with a player there would be no issue.

The issue is Matterson Mental Health, Cleary I wanna coach my kid, Aloai I don’t want to wear your colours. It’s disrespectful and when you are legally contracted expect it to hurt. Lee is a solicitor you will find a big fine be issued under contractual terms and then player held to contract. Aloai will have to sit out the year if he doesn’t want to play for the Tigers.

We aren’t winning anything and taking a stand here is more important than the player in question.

One of the newspaper reports a few pages back said it was a text from Josh to a Tigers official. Could be part of the "documentation" that Joshs mate has seen.

This was badly planned by Aloai.
Tigers won’t budge here they have been burnt badly by Cleary and Matterson and we also have front row depth Tamou, Musgrove, Mikalele, Utoikamanu, Twal.

Unless a player becomes available that improves our team this will backfire. It’s also a straight breach of contract publicly blasting your employer. Big time to recoup contract money and sitting in the sidelines is what should happen here. If you don’t want to play sit out and sacrifice the salary.

It’s a big call I like the young bloke but this is straight disrespectful no matter how insulted you are over a contract.

The difference is that the Daine Lauie negotiation is happening willingly between clubs and their players and is transparent and being handled with discretion. The Aloiai scenario is akin to blackmail on the part of the player /manager and is grubby and public in its airing with all the hallmarks of being Matterson Mark 2 ...... just my humble view !
