Aloiai

Obvious that Josh's bombastic claim about not wearing the jersey again and his subsequent smartarse posts on Instagram is a ruse to angle for the release. Club need to stand firm and make him honour his contract.

I'd love for the club to say no, and soon as Manly find a replacement for Josh we agree to the release.

This took a very ugly & unexpected turn very quickly. Haven’t spoken to a single person yet who isn’t completely shocked at Aloiai & his managements actions.
The 1 day deadline also taken extremely out of proportion, once revised deal was presented it was mentioned they would like to know by the next day.
Was never said “you have 1 day or its gone”.
Manly really agitating the release behind closed doors.

Josh needs to be educated in how to conduct himself properly.

Unfortunately as youd know people are who they are. You cant change broken.

Normally I'd tend to lean this way as well but if what The_POM says about his team-mate's feelings I don't think it's going to work.

It appears he's created a stench around himself the other players won't tolerate. It's quite possible it's also wafting as far as Brookvale as the Eagles' fans seem less than impressed - especially given the reported money on offer.

Maybe Josh should get his head into his favourite book and check 1 Timothy 6:10:

For the love of money is the root of all of evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

He's certainly brought himself some sorrow.

When Matto carried on last year, the majority of the players didn't want him around.

I'd say it's the same sentiment ATM. Therefore, if he is kept, he'll need to be isolated for the sake of team harmony.

I don’t think Josh cares & did what he did to ensure he leaves when he wants.

We have no choice but to hold firm on this & change the trend. My view is if he doesn’t play he doesn’t get paid that will hurt him.

And as the great Ron White said - you can't fix stupid.

Sounds a bit more real. Things always get taken way over the top on message boards. I'm stunned by JA as well. I never would have expected this sort of scenario to play out. He was always to me at least, the level headed one that was a hard worker on the improve, had pride in the jersey etc. I guess the lure of a lotto win was too much for him to handle. **It still blows my mind that $350,000 is considered a low payment. These are crazy times.**

Especially considering that’s exactly what we are paying Tamou - a much more accomplished player than Aloiai will probably ever be.

One thing is for sure, if he’s here next year, he won’t be mowing lawns, but he’ll spend a lot of time playing for the Magpies. With the depth at prop, he’s expendable. Play him in reserve grade and run his value into the ground.

Completely disagree with this. If he is in our top 3 props then he should be playing. Making a player meet the obligations of their contract is professionalism. To hurt you’re own chances of winning out of spite is disrespectful to the sponsors, members and fans as well as portraying an image of amateur hour. The exact thing we are trying to avoid.

It’s not as much about spite as it’s about picking players that want to be here. “I’ll never wear the jersey again” should mean he’s low in the pecking order

Again, I don't think he actually said that. I'm sure I read back 40 - 50 loooong pages that Lee H said that JA had said that he had no desire to wear it. That's not a great thing to say, but it's not a refusal to wear it. We seem to have gravitated towards an incorrect quote. I may be wrong of course.

I am sure there was a photo of Alioai with a banner saying it. Possibly here (I’m not going back to look for it) or it was in the paper from his Instagram account.

The quote is: "I have no desire to represent the Wests Tigers organisation or put a Wests Tigers jersey on again".

That's what I thought - something like that.

There's no refusal at all.

All you folks saying, we have to hold onto him, no release, put him in CC, etc. what’s your excuse for Pascoe and the administrators when we cave in? Every other failure seems to be forgiven pretty quick round here.

Yea I’m very surprised by what aloiai is supposedly saying, from my perspective I thought he loved the club , but I suppose money talks these days
And players couldn’t give a toss about the club especially the tigers
