Aloiai

If Aloiai walks because we get JO then expect the same thing to happen again next year. You can never erase the impression you're a soft target when................................you're actually a soft target.

Yeah I’m a bit peeved we’re just gonna roll over yet again and let Aloiai walk if we sign Joe O. His acquisition has nothing to do with Aloiai. He should not be released unless Manly cough up someone else or some form of compensation, though honestly I’d rather Aloiai be made to stay and see out his contract. We need to start getting tougher with the tantrum throwing wantaways. Other teams manage to do it and so should we. It’s about respect.

Maybe the delay in everything is all to do with the "compensation."

I’d like to think that would be the case, but it looks like our CEO has virtually stated that Ofahengaue’s signing will allow the club to release Aloiai to Manly - a very soft stance now from the man who less than a week ago touted that he’d have Aloiai mowing the lawns at Concord rather than release him a year early.

It was the Chairman who talked about mowing lawns, not the CEO.

Pretty sure POM said something like "we won't get a player swap but we are going to get compensated in another way by Manly" - I'm taking this as monetary compensation - how much, who knows?

Pom also said JAC and Macintyre were done deals.

Not trying to disrespect the bloke, but things do swivel around at any point ?‍♂️

They were done as far as deals. One had a HOA awaiting a release which did not happen and McIntyre had a deal but then the incompetent management team failed to get the thing signed off

Incompetent management team? As pauline would say, Please explain? With facts.

Pom indicated management had the the contract and let it sit there unsigned for 2 weeks (or something to that effect).

He said it was managements fault.

Any contracted player can only leave if either the player or the club want it to happen, more a managed decision based on what’s best for the club, imo.

The target is the player. It's more about the character of the target than the Club.

There’s no doubt, WE’RE A SOFT TARGET. !
The MEDIA says we have to release Aloia so that’s what we’ll do.
We’ll probably send him over to Brookvale in a stretch limo and foot the bill, just to appease the pigs at News Corp.
I respect the Storm more for their hard edge demands for a quality replacement in the JAC negotiation. The very player they requested (and we protected) is now pee-ing us up against the walls of The Daily Telegraph building.

We haven’t made the 8 for the longest run in history Madge is doing everything possible to get there what is going to benefit the team more? Haveing a player sit in reserve grade leaking crap to the media and be completely useless for our push to the finals or replace him with a ex origin player who is still in his prime I know it might seem like josh is getting off easy but this is the best of a bad situation for us

I'm not really disappointed in missing McIntyre.

It won't happen again next year. Mainly because NRL under V'Landys are looking very seriously at stamping out the practice of breaking contracts for no other reason than the contracted player/s have been offered bigger money at other clubs.

Most important thing we can do is pressure the NRL into changing the rules around this.

A bit of a talent disparity between JAC and Josh Aloiai . In what I mean by that , is the club has leverage , because the offering team won’t be able to find anything similar somewhere else in the market . JA is a dime a dozen front rower , who is benefitting from a fellow stable front rower in AFB bailing for more coins. Thus leaving a vacuum at the front rower position at manly . Everybody knows it ,so because of this it’s much harder to gain leverage , as the consequences for keeping a malcontent around can be devastating for a footy team.

We aren't getting compensated at this point. Compensation would require Manly giving us something in return for releasing Aloiai. The proposed deal now is that we just get Aloiai off our books and therefore we sign someone else.

We did the same thing with Matterson and it allowed us to sign AD and LL.

My opinion is that we should have kept Matterson and we should keep Aloiai. These guys were our best forwards and close to best players in their last season with us. It just seems stupid to release quality players because they spit the dummy.

We should be compensated but I think the writing is on the wall in that we sign JO and release JA.

I would have much preferred to have the 2020 LL and AD over the 2020 Matterson?

The Pom came on here and stated exactly what I've stated. We are just getting Aloiai off our books. The same thing happened with Matterson.

I could be wrong but there is no evidence at all that we are being compensated. The evidence that we have even though it's poor evidence states that we get no compensation.

I don't like it. I reckon it's bad. In stating that I understand the club just wants to get a team together who wants to win and we don't need players there who aren't committed.

For sure. We came out miles ahead here and I rate Matterson as a really good player. I actually reckon LL is a significantly better edge player than Matterson. I think Matterson in the middle is awesome and if we had kept him we would have our lock position sorted.
