We’ll probably send him over to Brookvale in a stretch limo and foot the bill, just to appease the pigs at News Corp.
I respect the Storm more for their hard edge demands for a quality replacement in the JAC negotiation. The very player they requested (and we protected) is now pee-ing us up against the walls of The Daily Telegraph building.

We are going to be compensated - have you forgotten that already. Just not with a player.

We aren't getting compensated at this point. Compensation would require Manly giving us something in return for releasing Aloiai. The proposed deal now is that we just get Aloiai off our books and therefore we sign someone else.

We did the same thing with Matterson and it allowed us to sign AD and LL.

My opinion is that we should have kept Matterson and we should keep Aloiai. These guys were our best forwards and close to best players in their last season with us. It just seems stupid to release quality players because they spit the dummy.

We should be compensated but I think the writing is on the wall in that we sign JO and release JA.

But how do you know we weren’t compensated, they don’t have to tell us?

The Pom came on here and stated exactly what I've stated. We are just getting Aloiai off our books. The same thing happened with Matterson.

I could be wrong but there is no evidence at all that we are being compensated. The evidence that we have even though it's poor evidence states that we get no compensation.

I don't like it. I reckon it's bad. In stating that I understand the club just wants to get a team together who wants to win and we don't need players there who aren't committed.

I’m with you. Absolutely nothing stopping the next bloke doing it now. No message sent. No point made. Unless PVL does something we are still a door mat/stepping stone/dead carcass, whatever u call it

The only thing stopping a player of course is the club, but after his silly outbursts, do you really want to keep him?

We have his wage and maybe some extra? available now to look at someone else that I am sure the club is looking at?

We do need to sign 2 more players, so we need to see who they are, Alioai’s money will go towards this.

Just need to be patient.

Yep the dummy spitters always just get their own way with us in the end.

Dummy spitters (Moses, Matterson, Aloiai) - whaa, whaa I don’t like it here, I want to go play over there, I’m not gonna talk to anyone unless I get my way, I want a bigger ice cream!

WT management (rhetoric) - you are a very naughty boy, you won’t get your own way, you are contracted to us and you will see out your contract, either by playing with us or sitting on the sidelines for a season, we will not be used as a doormat for disgruntled little boys anymore!

WT management (reality) - it’s ok little guy, daddy doesn’t mind, here’s a nice ice cream, now go over there and play with your new friends, as long as you are happy.

Yeah sets a terrible example for younger players if he is free to leave. Cap space could be helpful but it'd be better to swing a trade for Aloiai imo. Manly really have no negotiating room atm and seem dependent on us letting Aloiai go. Let them give us Cust or a promising junior. Or let them take on Packer's deal, partly subsidised if it is cap space we're after. If Aloiai wants to carry on like a porkchop, let him. He doesn't have a leg to stand on.

I’m waiting for Monday.

If he hasn’t been released by then he has to show up for training and that’s when we will see the real character of the man. There is a hope that he won’t dog it, lol.

Anyway it’s starting to become the norm. Saab from StG-ill has done the same thing - didn’t show and now has been released (to you-know-who).

Wasn't there comment about his manager asking WTs not to force him to training in his club attire after what was reported to have been said/written?

Definitely this could be another player welfare issue. Talk about leaving the club with your tail between your legs.

I'm quoting the POM as well. His last post stated:-

Aloiai for $$$ (essentially Joe)
Garner for Sironen (pending terms)

I could be wrong but that to me is exactly as I stated which is no benefit to us at all. We just lose his contract from our books. I don't think Manly can give us extra dollars for our salary cap. They could pay a player who is playing for us this season but I can't see that happening.

If you have another source that says something different or my understanding is incorrect let us know.

I agree. The question is do we need him next year. Yes we do. He is a professional and he should be playing for us.

It's pretty simple to me. We have to start accepting this is the way players play the game. Unless we end up in a better situation then he should stay. I think we should have done the same thing with Matterson.

I think the NRL needs to manage this better. Contracts should be changed so that you can't sign contracts over 3 years or something like that unless the contract is top dollar. The problem is players are trying to get maximum dollars as soon as they can. They sign a contract and at the start they are overpaid. If they perform they may then get a bigger contract for their next contract as they are worth more money. The problem is they leave mid contract and our good deal disappears.

There’s no doubt, WE’RE A SOFT TARGET. !
The MEDIA says we have to release Aloia so that’s what we’ll do.

Quoting what the POM said - obviously you have another source.

Depends what "essentially Joe" means, if they are paying compensation that covers his wage next year then it is not getting nothing.

I say again.

Did eels release Stefano???

Josh is free to go where he wants in 2022.

Until.then..... This is a test of.the tigers management strength.

I agree. The question is do we need him next year. Yes we do. He is a professional and he should be playing for us.

As I mentioned and also the Softlaw post on previous page:

Direct quote from the Pom, Signing & Suggestions thread, about half way down page 4327 :

**“Will be something in return just not in the form of player.”**

What would we do if Manly said, “we’ve got him for 2022, you keep him for next year”?

We keep him for next year , stick him with the CC team and they have a huge hole in thier engine room .

We just have to show that that is a real possibility and not empty threats

Won’t we have a hole as well if he stays?
