That's a great buy, Anasta is a very competitive and established player. Someone we could do with right now.

At this early stage it looks as though the plan is to play him at 5/8 to take the pressure off Marshall and Farah, which is what i'm hoping for. So assuming this happens, he's not the replacement for Ellis like it was stated in one particular article. I'm not sure how much room would be left in the cap, but we still need a replacement for Ellis and hopefully one or two props

There was a quote in today's SMH. I don't think Benji is happy about the speculation that braith will play in the halves.
I'm sure sheensy would have signed him to play lock and cover Ellis's departure. It might have been the only marque signing we could afford.
Maybe there were just hints that braith might possibly play in the halves just to get him to sign. If so, that's a bad way to play the contract negotiations.
But happy he is on board!!!

Not overly fussed with him at 5/8, I think he's a better lock, however, he does have a pretty good kicking game and always puts in. He will certainly provide some much needed stability I think.
He can't replace Ellis. I don't see any signings out there are that level excluding a firing SBW. If we got Gallan then we would get a replacement.
Basically Ellis can't be replaced but to me Anasta simply isn't the player that we need to replace Ellis. We need a backrower or prop who can get us consistent metres and bust the line and defensively be extremely solid.
Anasta to me is a great signing at half or at lock to replace two of Fulton, Ayshford or Heighington.

I think it's a decent signing. The Tigers need some stability in the halves, and they need to improve their kicking game. Anasta has a good long kicking game, one of the best bombs in the comp and he can nail field goals from a long way out. Defensively he is good and he has a good passing game. Should be a good foil between Farah and Marshall and can give the Tigers the settling plays they often need. And he offers utility value in the event of injuries, or if one of the Tigers up and coming stars are playing well enough to be picked in FG.

This is depending on if the rumours of BJ Leilua is on the money and we can snap JWH as well, I reckon this side would be close to winning the comp for the next 3 to 4 years with out a doubt.
I like the though of Lawrence at Fullback especially when he is 100% over the hip injury where he can come into the line whenever he wants to. Just by looking at the way GI and Brett Morris are going with being shifted to the back, this move could be like magic.

Anasta "apparently" cost us just over 200k, Ellis would free up 350k atleast, the cap goes up by 600k, moltzen shouldnt be resigned so there is another 150k plus, and JWH would only cost around the 250k mark and BJ I say around the 200k mark so why couldnt we afford them???
Add to that Utai would be looking elsewhere for a start hopefully as well

To think he won't bring more positives than not to our team, no matter where he plays, is unjustifiable bias or delusional thinking. imo
On a side not. To all those who think $x in salary cap increase means $x to spend on other players is wrong. I would say the majoirity of signings in recent times would have in their contracts that their pay will increase y% based on the % increase in the cap. I.e A lot of the cap increase has already been spent.

I do not think that they well keep Heino, Lote, Moltzen or Fulton.
I am still of the belief that you need a genuine half back to succeed in this comp. If not Miller then there are a couple of young halves coming through. Then there are young players like Marshall the younger, Davis, Chisholm, Tedesco etc etc
