And you thought Nate Myles Hotel poo incident was bad

Raiders and Monaghan to hold press conference at 3pm today.

Basic rundown…

He cried, said he was sorry a lot, he was Schindlers but wasn't using that as an excuse.
He asked for a release from his contract which Canberra granted.
He's off to the ESL where these kind of things are overlooked if you're good enough.
Don Furner suggested he can come back to Canberra when it all blows over (so to speak).

And life moves on...

now the one who took the photo should man up!

Yeah well amazingly even though he is standing next to Monaghan, Furner repeats the mantra that he and the Raiders board don't know who took the photo. I'm sure Joel Monaghan does Don…

maybe this will be the end of mad mondays.
would not be suprised if NRL bring in a new rule, that if any club has an indiscretion, they will be deducted two points from next season.

thats who i think it is too.

It appears that the Canberra team were at someones house for their mad monday booze up, which is great as they are not outside or in pubs making a pest of themselves, so it would appear on the surface they were doing the the right thing. So what happened should have stayed within the confines of the house and the person who posted the photo should be shot as I am sure they would not like to be in Monaghans shoes.

For all those saying ban Mad Monday, how do you propose to do this? You gonna ban mates from hanging out together?

Campese was not present at Miller's house during the event!

Dugan is the more likely suspect!

I am a dog lover (in the appropriate way) and while I found the actions disgusting and deserving of the highest possible sanction - I must say I still felt sincerely sorry for Joel and his family during the press conference yesterday!

The culture of the team needs to be addressed as that is what leads to such attrocities!

I dont know if it was a dare, a stupid party trick or what but no member of the public was hurt, ala Carney, Bird etc….it wasnt done in public and imo it's one of those "what goes on tour, stays on tour" type deals. Sure it was disgusting, but this bloke has paid a very heavy price for this. Imagine the embarrasment.....

Whoever took the picture and posted it needs to be outed as the distrustful scumbag that they are. Remember...we only know about this and the Raiders and NRL have been dragged into it because some jerkoff at the party was trying to big note themselves by posting what went on at a private function where no laws were broken.

It actually isnt in the ACT…..

I'll add to my other post by saying that I've been to heaps of very wild parties and have seen crazier and dirtier stuff than that happen.

I mean we live in a day and age were Dirty Sanchez and Jackass are on the tele doing these kinds of stunts for shitz and giggles all the time.I wonder how many people on here have seen the beer aenema that the Sanchez boys do or the drinking of horse semen that Johnny Knoxville - a hollywood star and co, have done.

I'm not condoning it but these types of dares and party tricks, although filthy, happen more regularly than some may realise.

At the end of the day he's an idiot for doing it but it still shouldnt have gotten out.

I didn't say Campese took the picture…
I said Furner was standing right next to Monaghan but claiming not to know who took the photo. I'm saying I'm sure Monaghan knows who took it so it's a bit weird for Furner to say he has no idea who took the photo.

Would it have made such a HUGE scene if it wasn't done on Mad Monay? I reckon if it was just an incident involving Joel and his mates (non- Raiders), it woudn't have made such a huge thing of him quitting, except there would've been some actions.

Yeah it would have… It wouldn't matter what the date was, if a photo comes out of an NRL player with his old fella half way down a dog's throat it is going to be a massive story.

Monas is paying for the sins of those before him. Although players on a whole have been very well behaved this year prior to this, everytime a player stuffs up in the past everyone calls for them to be hung, drawn and quartered. Was anybody hurt by Monas' actions? No, I think the dog will be just fine. It was an incredibly stupid thing, but players who have done worse are still running around in the NRL. It's not as though he did this for his own pleasure.

The thing that has intrigued me since I was shown the pic and seeing the article in the Telecrap was that Joel was shown in the paper wearing some sort of Super Hero costume but in the 'offending photo' while semi naked was in his ordinary clobber at a 'private residence'.
Did the actual incident really occur on Mad Monday or is it being used as an excuse for his actions.
He did bring the game into disrepute and did the 'honorable' thing in resigning, despite this he's still a @##$$%%^&&&

It happened on the Sunday after their loss to us at Josh Miller's place . The costumes were the next day on their official Mad Monday!
