Worst forward in Cronulla's pack last year. Fitzhenry has more chance of playing Origin this year. One word for Fifita - myth.

Only the worst if you ignore Tupou, plus they had a couple of young bench guys still learning the ropes.

**Fifita another forward who has grown a leg after leaving the Tutelage of Sheens** - who was a forward himself, so you'd think he should know how to coach them!

Can't agree with that. <big>Fifita didn't play any better last season than what he did with us.</bigPlayed a bit more game time but nothing has changed, he is still pretty inconsistant. His slow, lazy defence would see him struggle at Origin level IMO.

Disagree.
He learnt to rely less on the fend. He played much much more direct - a lot less sideways

I think he may have had less impact as a result of playing a new more direct style, this however I think will benefit him much more in the long term….its a new style he's clearly been taught/directed to play

His fend is his biggest weapon so it is crazy to try and coach him out of using it. Straight up and down props are a dime a dozen- ones with footwork,a lethal fend or good ball skills are much harder to come by and should be encouraged to use their natural talent. As I said, last year he was no better or more of a threat to the defence than when he was playing for WT.
And his defence and endurance are certainly nothing to get too excited over.

Happy, You made me laugh just visualizing that. You're probably right. But please let me dream, give me that much please.

Any decent defender can deal with a fend, his fend is what caused him to end up going lateral, he could push off but it stopped his momentum, hed go sideways…..much much better now...Flanagan has a clue.
You mention good ball skills...that he has too.

Straight up & down??? props a dime a dozen???....you want em zig zagging & dancing everywhere do you?
Youre looking for a halfback
Their coaches want em heading one way...directly to the opps tryline - metre eaters

Don't worry Kaz , it gets worse Qld are concerned where to let him sit during the series

Leave him in the stadium and he could injure thousands when he knocks the stadium down when he turns around

Put him on the bench and his snoz might head NSW tackle count

You are a funny bugger Happy. Your as bad as my Dad. I reckon Daley's hair is the problem not his nose, every time I see him he always makes me think of Bert And Ernie and then I can't take him seriously.

Finally some perspective! For some reason a lot of people seem to think Fifita set the world on fire after leaving us and hooking up with the Sharks last season, but in reality, he played pretty much the same, perhaps even not as well. I think he just talked himself up a lot more, giving the effect that it looked like he was killing it.

Ironic you mention perspective Flip….no ones said he set the world on fire, some are saying he played better, thats all.

Its like it kills some people to admit this is even possible

Perhaps 'setting the world on fire' was a wrong choice of words, Ink, but many media reports last year tended to make out he was playing _far_ better with the Sharks than he was at WT when, personally, I don't think there was a lot of difference in his game.

Fifita likes to talk himself up well in the media, which can often give the allusion that he is already the next superstar. Much like Bernard Tomic, who had many convinced (me included) that he was ready to beat Roger Federer when, in fact, he really had no hope, **at this stage in his career**. Good luck to Fifita though, if he keeps his head and knuckles down he could well be in contention for Origin in the coming years - he definitely has the potential for it.

Your opinion is that he played better….some other people are of the opinion that he didn't. What is the problem with that? Im sure if people believed that he played better they wouldn't be so petty as to not admit it in the belief that Sheens was the Messiah :unamused:

Wow…cannot understand that at all
Nothing wrong with differing opinions.....imimagine if we all thought the same, would be a boriing place

All he does is fend and run sideways. Imagine him and Tony Williams in the NSW pack together. Each set of 6 would take 5 minutes with the two of them running sideways up and down the field not getting tackled or going forward.

Regardless of the opinions of Fifita's season in 2012, theres one thing that can't be denied- and thats no matter how good or bad he was, he was he was still head and shoulders above Matt Groat, the guy who Sheens saw as the future of the club over Fifita. Still early days of course but i believe Sheens chose a lemon

Fair enough, I saw Begovich as a better prospect than either Groat or Fifita, I reckon he was the wrong one to let go of. In any case I suppose it is still far too early to make judgement on Groat, only played a handful of FG games, brought on way before he was ready and now he's injured.

Didn't we re-sign Woods and Groat over Fifita and Gibbs? Maybe Sheens saw Woods as a brighter prospect than Fifita..he certainly wasn't wrong there IMO. I don't think it was ever spelt out that Groat was chosen over Fifita, we simply kept two and got rid of two.

Doesn't your last sentence contradict your first?

Sheens was quoted saying that couldn't keep all 3 (Woods, Groat, Fifita) No one disputes keeping Woods for obvious, but choosing Groat over Fifita was a bit mistake
