Andrew Johns, Brad Fittler shred Wests Tigers

Rugby league legends Andrew Johns and Brad Fittler have launched scathing attacks on Wests Tigers over their 40-6 annihilation at the hands of the Sydney Roosters.

Fittler even went as far as hammering the Tigers with the following extraordinary remark: "They should be walking around giving every person that came here their money back. What a bludger of a day."

Those were the crushing words of the Roosters and Penrith Panthers great as Luke Keary, James Tedesco, Brett Morris and Jared Waerea-Hargreaves propelled the Tricolours to victory at Campbelltown Sports Stadium, making the wet conditions look sunny and dry.

"The one thing the fans demand is you try and you try for the full 80," Fittler said during Nine's coverage.

"It doesn't look like the Tigers are doing that."

Johns slaughtered the Tigers repeatedly throughout the match but perhaps saved his most heated spray for the first try of the second half.

Keary received the footy from Waerea-Hargreaves at halfway, dummied and pierced a gap between Luke Brooks and Joey Leilua, fended off Daine Laurie and popped a flick pass to Morris, who crossed for a 47th-minute try.

Johns exploded. "Well they started the set a metre out from their own line, the Roosters, and the Tigers let them roll up field. They didn't compress their defence up or fly out of the line to put pressure on the Roosters," Johns said. "Then on the fourth play they go wide and the defence was way too passive, on their heels. "Playing on someone like Keary, if he gets on the outside of you he just puts you to bed.

"There's just no urgency whatsoever in the key areas for the Tigers."Really disappointing that set of six defensively."

Fittler asked Johns if he thought the Roosters' sliding passing game made the Tigers panic - and the triple Dally M Medal winner reignited his tirade. "Look at the outside defence, Freddy. They're all back and passive, which gives Keary time," Johns said. "When the ball went out the back to Keary, Joseph Leilua should've been in his face and smashing him outside in. He was a metre behind Luke Brooks and sitting on his heels and then they went straight into slide mode. You just can't be so passive when you're playing a team with so much attack and speed."

The problem with us after 2 rounds...

1) BJ hasn’t been in the games. His D has been atrocious, you can see he just doesn’t care...so if we can see it imagine how his team mates feel?...if he ain’t dropped then serious questions need to be asked.

2) our attack, 5th tackle options and general kicking first two rounds bog average, and this rests squarely on Brooks..when you put on poor 5th tackle kicks so early in the game, it can’t help but put a negative mindset in place for the rest of the team..surely it must be frustrating to our players when our half back can’t even get a simple repeat set... two weeks in a row now Brooks...

Imagine if a player on the field cared that much. There is a serious lack of accountability and leadership among that group that is disturbing.

Can't argue with anything they said. We were garbage and I expect that theme to continue. Newcastle will moller us this weekend.

It’s pretty clear there is something up with our Club (loser mentality)
Players coming from other Clubs and are instantly our “best” players.
(Laurie,Grant,Matterson and even Momo to an extent)
I don’t think it’s our coach, we are just so used to being bog average.there is zero heart from certain players in the squad, I don’t need to name names it’s been very well covered on here.
We just constantly persist with the same guys who don’t perform and probably never will.
Very negative, but I just watched the game and that was up there with one of the most uninspired performances I’ve ever seen.

Its a sad state of affairs when I find myself agreeing with clowns like Freddy and that goose Joey Johns. That's how bad we were.

I am concerned that the "new" players we have acquired over the past season will want to leave if we "they" do not start winning.

These days it's all about winning but they have forgotten "they are " the ones that have to do the winning....does that make sense:astonished:

Surely it's not the coach and surely it's not the
club so what is the problem here.
Of course I suppose it could be that these players have not gelled yet, and perhaps as the season goes on and this happens- the wins will come....:face_with_thermometer:
I hope so.

Fittler is wrong about 1 thing, I don't demand they try for 80 minutes.

I hope for 40. Content with 25 consecutive.

So what is Madge going to do about it? I say drop anyone who consistently isn't putting in on the field. Go nuts and change the shape of things. Bring out the egg shells again and finally make players accountable. I don't care if we field a second string team with whatever is leftover in the top 30. At least we have an excuse for loosing. Yesterday was bloody pathetic and I'm still ropable. Do the players give a 💩 this morning or are they laughing and clowning around like baboons like they must do every other week?

I also dont think the big bomb was the option against the roosters there back 3 are safe as houses, should be just been trying to kick in behind them and turn them around. I still think the bomb was more effective then Brooks kicking dead i just think it was pointless putting up bombs especially when no one was there to put pressure on.

I actually laughed at a couple of things they said, it was so glaringly true. Sad when you are laughing at the team you support. It was a shemozzle.

I think it IS the club. We've been perennial losers from the start, born from losers TBH. Thet can't run a successful club, they just can't.

It really was disgusting to watch.

150km return trip and about 5hrs I won’t get back.

Good for you! I strongly feel like the players do not appreciate the effort the fans put in. People like yourself deserve an apology.
