Andrew Ryan

A. Ryan wouldn't particularly be a bad buy, as others said he brings more to the club than just onfield performance..
Ryles however is a busted, stupid mistakes and stupid penalties that's why Bennett got rid of him, maybe Sheens has done the same with booting Gibbs and Fifita too? Errors are just too costly to a rugby league team.

Gibbs and Fifita aren't on their pat when it comes to errors Timmay. The whole team has been guilty of this in the 2011 season.

Just heard a bloke from the Telegraph on 2KY say that we did make enquiries about Ryan but couldn't fit him under the cap. Thank God!!

The SMH made vague references to "a Bulldog's source" telling the SMH that someone from the WT had approached the Dogs and inquired about Ryan. As is the case these days, journos just run the story wholesale without doing any further investigation.

Seen that site once or twice yoss…..there doesnt really seem to be anyone putting their name to it

Sounds like a clearing house for crap Ink…

It's like an ever decreasing circle - this site gets its info from a tweet from someone who may have overheard (or probably misheard something).

There is a reason it was posted under the "Rumours" section of the site though. I know the guy who does the site, he doesn't create rumours specifically to generate traffic. If he starts posting rumours as if its legit news, then there would be an issue.

He may not create them himself but he sets a pretty low bar when deciding to run them…

I think their success rate in rumours becoming fact is around 20%.

UPDATE: Wests Tigers officials have ruled out a bid for Canterbury captain Andrew Ryan following revelations the club had made an inquiry about his services. Bulldogs sources said the Tigers had asked several weeks ago but could not afford him under the salary cap, and the matter had proceeded no further.

In other contract news, Wests Tigers officials have ruled out a bid for Canterbury captain Andrew Ryan following revelations the club had made an inquiry about his services. Bulldogs sources last night told the Herald the Tigers had asked several weeks ago but could not afford him under the salary cap, and the matter had proceeded no further.

St Helens last night announced the signing of Tigers second-rower Mark Flanagan on a two-year contract, while Rugby League Week reported back-rower Simon Dwyer feared he might never play again after suffering nerve damage in the round-16 match against Canterbury.

See this is the problem with these kind of sites. He has lifted that word-for-word from the SMH and not attributed it.

I haven't looked over all of them but they did run with this on June 17:

RUMOUR: Reddy signs with Bulldogs for 2012

Sites like these are like Harry Potter movies. Interesting and enjoyable but not overly factual…

thank god.
these fool is washed up.
he should go make some retirement dollars in the ESL because he's old, boring and unimpressive.
maybe the titans can make a play for him to join that retirement village of a team they're running up there.

CLIFFNOTE: ANDREW RYAN IS PATHETIC & IT'D BE A DISGRACE TO SEE HIM IN A TIGERS JERSEY.

True, but its 1 paragraph, most likely an oversight rather then an intentional act to plagiarise. If you read the news articles (not the rumour section) they always link back to the original source. It just seems like nit picking, its not pretending to be a DT or nrl.com rival, its more of an aggregate collection of articles. Hes a dedicated fan like most of us here, thats all.

Again, the both clubs seem to have admitted that WT sounded Ryan out a while ago. Rumours were in fact correct.

I'm sure he's a great bloke but he runs a site layered in ads so he is earning revenue from these articles. I'm sure it was an oversight and you're right most other times he does source but he needs to be more careful given the nature of his site. We don't even know where he got the original story from… I can't run a world news site and just run a whole bunch of stories I've copied and pasted from other places and then charge people advertising.
I'm not trying to run the guy down, but there are some basic principles involved.

There was no real story or article to link to though for the Ryan rumour, it was picked up off net from a few various places. I've actually mentioned to him he should rate any rumours he puts up, so people know its either a strong possibility with sources from the club or just something picked up from a fan forum/twitter etc.

I understand the frustration in hearing constant speculation from unnamed places about every player off contract. The silence from our club is deafening this year.

Sheens just on 2SM, they asked about Ryan…Sheens didnt deny anything, said ''he'd been discussed to replace payten" but then brushed it away saying theyre still waiting to see what the cap will be next year

Turns out they did enquire about him….Sheens :crazy

…"Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"...

Great poem, not sure the writer ever intended it to become the basis of a footy teams recruitment policy though.
