Apisai Koroisau #263

I'll tell you how he gets picked....Gus asked and he did Gus a favour...Gus is always going on how the Bulldogs are "doing the right thing as a club". and pumping their tyres......This selection just gives him more ammunition in that say.
Gus and Freddy are thick as thieves, always have been. You don't reckon Gould is absolutely within the sanctum of the Freddy-Brandy-Buderus origin tilt?

Totally am so gutted for Api, he was in tears after the game.

We are going to miss you not being out there pushing the lads.

Tino should be suspended, yet gets cleared ...??

Speedy Recovery, we hope to see you out there soon.

PS - if anyone missed:

Sheens says Koroisau’s jaw is badly broken in two places and will require major surgery - it’s a ‘major issue’ for Api, and he is looking at 6 weeks minimum, if he’s lucky.

I always thought it was a 50/50 call re Tino and he has received the benefit of the doubt.
API is a true professional who puts his body on the line every week. Get if repaired thoroughly and properly API , hopefully heal quickly and see you back ASAP.
The incident took me back to Ryan James on Teddy many years ago which resulted in a broken jaw for Teddy.I always thought it was deliberate but don’t think Janes was ever punished, classified as accidental.
But both incidents v Titans, amazing coincidence.

Doubt he will be back for 8-10 weeks or so now so basically gone for the rest of the season.

Time to see what Jake is really made of.
Rua needs to step up he has a window and guess TDS will get a run.

It sucks as Api is such a quality player he is a massive loss to us.

If it’s going to be that maybe best not to
come back this year.
I thought Simpkin was ok last night, let’s hope this gives him the playing continuity he needed.

Year is gone anyway now, may as well give him all the time in the world to recover.

I wouldn’t risk Api … put him on ice in a mentoring time for the rest of the season.

Amazing to watch this bloke go about his business in person yesterday. Particularly on the defensive side of the ball. He did not stop running all game, tackles so hard for a smaller bloke. But also just organises the middle so well.
We are so lucky to have him.
Just hope we can hold onto him. Doesn't his deal with us end next year? If he becomes available again to other offers, there'll be a conga line of clubs waving big money at him. Best 9 in the game bar none!

We are cooked without Api. This season is looking like ending up exactly like last. Injuries to key players very little depth, all the talk about next season and recruitment juniors who may never emerge, excuses excuses promises the same old same old.
Come on TT, he’s a great player and he’s been good for us but I don’t think he’s the only player.
We still have our other star recruits plus these younger guys starting to stand up.
Sure, we have problems in a few key positions but I’m hopeful that everyone puts in a little more to make up for the absence.
Also, once again those that dislike Brooks can now gauge how strong we are without him and what current alternatives exist.
We may be down but we’re not out.

I hope your right but without leadership in the key positions there is no direction on the field. The depth players at the club rarely step up and doubt we are going to sack another coach - so expect the talk of next season and recruitment to start to take shape again very soon.

Yeah it would be good if we had a junior who has that swagger/arrogance about him not afraid to direct older players. Maybe that is Tallyn & Kit. But most of our good young ones are a bit passive in the vocal/directional area. Hopefully Matai & Lawry are different.

I like the enthusiasm and confidence of some on here but lets face it, we have lost our #1 and #7, that's half our spine, the #6 despite going a lot better than many would have predicted at the start of the season, but is unfortunately slower than a wet week.

Even if our current #6 was able to put on an outstanding kicking game, the fact of the matter is that we have a non existent kick chase to take advantage of it.

The one shining light is our #1 and as great a talent as he is, has only played a hand full of games in the top grade and has a long way to go before he reaches his full potential, and that is assuming he stays healthy and remains on the same upward trajectory that he is currently on.

I'm afraid that the only way to avoid another spoon, barring some miracle, is for St.George to keep losing and for us to beat them for a 2nd time this season and I think we would be very lucky for Api to be back in time to help us with that game towards the end of July.

I guess that gives us the opportunity to try a few new things and just maybe we make some great discoveries like Jahream has been.
