Playing for the coach is the stupidest thing I have ever heard of. Almost as stupid as this thread. Once you put a jersey on and your doing this as a full time job (earning huge amount of money) you go out there with your pride and integrity and give it 110%. You put your body on the line and keep going even when things don’t go your way or you have no energy left. This isn’t on the coach it’s on each and every individual to deliver.

And here are the ruffled feathers. Such a stupid thread, yet 2 players over the last 2 years have walked out on him. How terrible that questions might be asked. As usual, playing the man, not the ball. Boring.

Latrell Mitchell walked out on Robinson. Cooper Cronk walked out on Bellamy. A whole 2 players walked out on him. Matterson was in the state of origin squad with us , hows he going now. Alioa is the other one. Did you want us to pay $650k for him?? Because If you did , you’d be the only one in the world who would.

Jesus, that’s some serious straw clutching. Mitchell didn’t walk out on Robinson, Robinson punted him. As for Cronk, yeah, he really left cos he didn’t rate CRAIG BELLAMY lol. You say this is a stupid thread, yet in nearly 7 pages, most agree with me lol lol lol

Straw clutching lol. Latrell had a $650k contract from the roosters. Aloia had a $450k contract from the tigers. Both left for more money elsewhere. Why did Tino leave Melbourne to join the Titans?? There would be a hundred examples of players leaving for all sorts of reasons in the nrl in the last 2 years.

Tino was off contract. I’ll say it again, this thread is so stupid, yet in 7 pages you are the only one vehemently against it . Tells me I have a point.

Like I said that’s my opinion and always will be. I expect players who put on a tigers jersey to give a 110%. If the effort you give depends on who the coach is then you shouldn’t be playing for my team the onus to me is always on the players to give it their all. I hope your thread gets to ten pages if that makes you happy lol

They’re not a top 4 squad but they’re also nowhere near as bad as they have been in the first two rounds. There is no structure and they don’t seem to care - there is no motivation.

With the exception of Mbye every player yesterday was signed or re-signed by Madge. This is his 3rd year at the helm and we’ve seen a gradually better roster contrasted with a consistent decline in performances. Regardless of his previous success, he’s been unable to get this team going. We look worse than last year.

This is what irritates me so much. Why are they getting worse? We have a significantly better roster than years past but aren't even putting up a fight

Even though they lost yesterday, the Sharks tried their absolute guts out for an unheralded coach under a heap of pressure. That’s a team playing for their coach that genuinely cares.

So they wouldn’t have played their guts out if Morris wasn’t the coach? They didn’t play for the pride of the jersey and the pride of their own performance to keep their jobs.

I don’t know, but I do know good coaches motivate their players. Ours can’t. We’ve given up more than 26 points 13 games in a row and won 2 of our last 12 games. Disgusting.

I don’t think any supporter including myself is happy with the performance of our team. It’s simply not good enough. I don’t think madge is faultless in this , but I think it’s a cop out to the players to say it’s all the coaches fault or that they aren’t playing for him.

When I see madge dropping the ball cold, missin simple one on one tackles and constantly giving the opposition 7 tackle sets then I’d be happy to blame him. Id say the most influential constant has been Brooks.

Madge re-signed Brooks.

Ivan Cleary choose brooks over Moses. Madge re-signed him. 150 games in and the guy hasn’t got it. That’s on him not on the coach.

“Let me ask you, Luke Brooks played in is his 150th game today and this is his eighth season in the NRL,” Hooper asked Corey Parker.

“A couple of those last play kicks that are gifting the Chooks seven tackle sets. They are not the actions of a halfback that is steering his side around.”

Those kicks were back breakers for our side .Managed to get some field position to give it up so easily and then his confidence so low he just stops kicking.
How can the players believe in him when he doesn't back himself? Hate giving it to him be cause I'm sure he tries but he gave us no hope yesterday.

I don’t know what Madge is thinking now, but I do know what I would be doing if I was in his job. encouraging teamwork and removing any and all barriers or obstacles which stand in the way.

Correct, and under Cleary he was Dally M halfback of the year. He’s regressed under Madge to be no longer NRL standard.

So if the players play well the coach is the reason. And if the players play bad it’s the coaches fault. So there is no onus on the player to perform at all. Might try that in my job, blame my boss when I don’t perform and take no ownership for my own performance. Wonder how that will go?

“A couple of those last play kicks that are gifting the Chooks seven tackle sets. They are not the actions of a halfback that is steering his side around.”

Correct, and under Cleary he was Dally M halfback of the year. He’s regressed under Madge to be no longer NRL standard.

avocado I’m with you even the players that Maguire has brought to the club are regressing under him

I don’t know what Madge is thinking now, but I do know what I would be doing if I was in his job. encouraging teamwork and removing any and all barriers or obstacles which stand in the way.

I thought he had already done that

Clearly anything he has done is not working toward that end.
I think one obstacle is BJ, he showed us in round 1 he is done.

I still don't think it's the coach. How many coaches have tried to turn this around in the past 10 years and failed? Ivan even gave up and bailed.

However, Madge has had more opportunity than any other coach outside of Sheens and needs to deliver results.

Our attack is the worst in the comp and that's why our defence is ripped to threads IMO.

He’s the only constant.

Brooks has never played in a finals game under any coach and when we have needed him to step up in critical games it just doesn't happen. If Maguire goes down Brooks goes with him.

Yes and Maguire is the one who recruited him I think the obstacle is Maguire
