Easy answer "NO" and the results over the last 12 years back up his conclusion.
8 wins over the last 2 seasons is not good enough and players and coaches are not reaching their respective KPI's.

Until WT find a controlling Half Back (last real decent one WT had was Scott Prince) then results will continue the same.

Yes Coaching staff and some of their respective game plans and the use of the bench over the years leave me questioning their coaching abilities and direction the team is heading.

I will be interested to see how Marshall as sole Head Coach operates given as a player he played off the cuff style and maybe not to the coaches plan. Time will tell

From memory, Benji was critical of Madge's coaching style and suggested that players are different these days unlike the tough old days, players these days need to be "treated differently."
Would be an ideal position for players to be a lot tougher on each other than the coach is, but it aint gonna happen..nope!

Some are forgetting its just not the head coach who comes up with the game plane, certain players, defensive structures etc. Benji will seek advice on all these things and his team will hopefully get all that in place.

I think Benji will be a good head coach because there is no doubt all the players respect him, he is well organised and seems like the sort of bloke who can handles the challenges that will be thrown at him. He will need time to develop so you can't write him off just yet.

Been pondering a response to this thread for a while and reading responses. For my 2 cents worth I dont think they have been well coached this year. Im prepared to put the onus on that on Sheens for this season as he was the head coach, but next year its on Benji.

That answer was framed solely around that WT seem to of all season got the basics not right. Immaterial of talent, the basics should be more right than wrong and I have to say our right has been very much overwhelmed by the wrong.

I agree with that, but Benji is not immune to criticism for efforts and results this year.

Dead set right.

My view: Sheens picked on "passing" as the key basic we needed to get right. What we saw was our weak Tacking and defense means we are down way more tries to start a game.

So many games were down 2-3 tries behind. In the old Sheens days we saw "Marshall Magic" and we maybe won or maybe lost 32-30...

No Marshall and Brooks -> a slow wakeham, no Magic...

Surely it's obvious how poorly coached we are. We kept jamming in defence leaving manlys lightning fast wingers unmarked and they ripped us to shreds. If we just made them at least beat us one on one that would be something but no we just let them go over untouched.

A slow team, a dumb team, an uncoordinated mess. No idea in attack or defence.

Our defence was fine up till the gold coast game then something changed and we lost the plot for the rest of the season.

There is no coach.

I'm still amazed that this side seems to have absolutely no idea what it's doing in attack.

Literally no idea.

Halves run across field and no runners
Dump passes on the inside to a forward whose not expecting it.
There's no defense at all out wide.
Packing a scrum in 30 seconds? too hard to figure out.

I'm not even talking about winning games.

This is basic shit.

How can they be well coached when they have received the spoon? Both are linked. Coming last shows that this coahing system isnt up to it amd it comes bacl the the board amd CEO for ratifying the coaches.

Shame the untouchables above cant be held to account. Id be embarressed if i was one of them to be honest.
