Are we getting too enthusiastic?

Our time has come. We've earned the right to be enthusiastic.

We went punch for punch with the ladder leaders and didn't flinch.

We just towelled up the Broncos and rubbed their noses in it.

Bring it on.

It's hard to know what sort of Tigers team we'll see on Thursday night. There were some big positives to take away from the Broncos game:

- Played for 80 mins
- Held them to zero
- Attitude/toughness in defence never waned, and attack stayed relentless

These 3 points would never normally sum up a Tigers performance, no matter how on top of a game they ever were.

Personally I feel like we've turned a corner (with the odd slip up or two to be expected at some point) and hoping it's all generally upwards from here.

The way I see it, what we can take from the Brisbane game is: before the game we were expected to win it, & we went on to pump them convincingly putting together probably our best 80-min performance of the year. This is something we've rarely been able to achieve. So that is a positive for me.

All of the commentary since the game has been about how poor the Broncos were & not how good we were. But that's because we have traditionally been inconsistent. This last month we've been strong but also lacked discipline & therefore lost a couple of games that could've easily went our way (i.e. v Penrith). This Thursday is another opportunity to put in an 80 min performance & potentially change the way the competition view us.

I hope we stay focused & bring the same enthusiasm, energy & execution we did against the Broncos. We need to show that consistency to get us into the finals.

The 3 E’s
Up until the Broncos game each week we have turned up with 2 of the 3.
Enthusiasm isn’t a problem for us. Energy and Execution are our enemies at this stage and we can’t consistently nail all 3!

when's BJ and josh reynolds back?

BJ has another 2 weeks and Reynolds 1.

If walters plays as well as he did against the donkeys this week then I cant see reynolds coming back into the team.

thanks mate, would be nice to have them back for their enthusiasm

I reckon we will beat the EELS ....if Moses is back Im sure Madge has a plan to make sure he is well and truly buried at Bankwest, our boys are really starting to gel and understand the defensive structures, hopefully the team will be relentless on thursday night...

every time moses kicks come through and put him on the deck, the guy is like the team a flat track bully. Hit him legal but hard.
Interesting if Fergo and Sivo return this week

I think it will all come down to injuries and whether Brooks can regain confidence and learn not to kick into players in front of him.

his most common plays:

* raid down the short side (cut out ball)
* Bomb
* chip and chase

Repeat

edit i've always been a fan of moses since high school but their number 6 is really talented too.

happy tiger selected the Broncos..

It's hard not to be a little excited about our team, it's been a long time since they looked so enthusiastic and showed so much desire. Madge has been pretty straight up in his post game conferences saying that it's all about consistency and building on our performances each week. As for our draw and us playing top 8 teams - it seems to me that most of them are not so consistent and it depends what you get on the night. The Storm and Panthers have been pretty good every week, but I have seen the Eels, Manly, Raiders, Knights, Rabbits and even Roosters offer up average performances, so maybe we need to be a bit lucky and catch a couple of them with an injury or two on a slightly off day. I agree that this week's game is a key to our chances, let's hope the lads dig in and put in another 80 minute tough showing.

Parra will be up for this. they copped a reality check last week and they have a heap of players returning. it will be hard for us and we are the clear outsiders, but anything could happen.

I think you are right, the Eels probably will be up for the game against us, but let's hope they are a little clunky and have a few errors in them. Also in saying that, I thought the Broncos would be up for their game against us coming off their win, and look how they turned up!

don't get too enthusiastic over the broncos game, get enthusiastic over the fact we have been matching the form teams for longer periods then we have.
Panthers, Raiders both those games were their to be won & expecting the same Thursday.

We have been hammered by the Knights...fairly comfortably handled by the Raiders, Panthers and Bunnies. I.e. teams above us.

Smashed the Broncs, Dogs, Cows...the bottom feeders.

I love what Madge is doing and we are on the right path.

But there should be no real talk until we actually have a signature win or two.

In the next month we play
Eeels
Roosters
Knights

and
Warriors
Dogs

Not in that order...but we NEED to beat one or two of the top group before we can talk a bit.

We are a massive long shot to make the finals. TAB has us at $2.75:1 to make the 8.

If you play with the NRL Ladder Predictor - https://www.nrl.com/ladder/?competition=111
We have a very tough draw, we need to win every game against teams below us and 2 against teams above us. It is a very tough ask.

Someone called Tunza does a maths based Power Ranking Analysis on the Reddit NRL forum and only gives us a 3.7% chance of making the finals - https://www.reddit.com/r/nrl/comments/huc2yx/nrl_power_rankings_round_11_2020/

There is some hope but you are fooling yourself if you _expect_ Wests Tigers to make the 8 this year.

This is a realistic assessment. We are up against it. If we make the finals we are a really good team. I don't think we are at that level just yet but let's wait and see.

I’d rather beat them at their best.
