Are you prepared to admit this JV is a failure?

It may be fans from a bygone era, but they are still large enough in numbers to be bane on this clubs existence. You can't deny that it isn't something that holds this club back.

made a thread like this a couple of months ago about how apart from juniors, there is nothing that other teams/fans would be envy about. most agreed with me then as well iirc.

we're still a club under progress in regards to identity. idk what the solution is but i hope for the sake of the juniors who have spent the 20 years of their lives dreaming about winning a premiership for the tigers and have signed here long term that we find some sort of success.

LOL

Not me CQ , Parish

Anyway your the coach elect in 2015

You can blame the 'older' supporters BUT without us, who guide their kids to a team to follow (all 4 of mine follow WT) but I will always tell them the history of the Wests side, as I believe it is important.

I drove 3 hours to Canberra to watch the game, I saw quite a few Magpies jerseys, a few balmain jerseys but lots of WT jerseys being worn. I wore my Black and White Victa proudly. I also cheered for WT.

Is the JV a failure ? The answer is YES. This club should be the most supported, it should be successful, but the failure (cancer) of the club was the original setup. Rotating chairmen, factional infighting , poor decisions, the list goes on.

Do I want Balmain to die off ? NO. Would I like to see the Magpies back in the NRL ? YES. I think it is 99% unlikely to ever happen, but the side I followed for 20+ years, suddenly exists at RMC level only and is not fairly represented in the JV makes me sick.

You've still never answered his questions. Obviously a politician at heart.

What questions? You agree with him do you, that there isn't any disharmony among the supporter base? get real.

These questions:
You asked for honesty - so I ask the same of you? Have you ever really supported the JV and/or are you hoping for one side to take over from the other? Or are you at the stage where you would be happy to see the whole thing fold?
and please lol, just for the record could you point out to me again where I said I agree with him and that there is no disharmony?

No, i've never supported this team. I only come to this forum out of habit, and only have gone to games and payed money for the last 15 yrs out of boredom. What do you think? seems like a pretty dumb question. I have a question of my own, and that's how is stating facts, liable to being asked whether you're actually a supporter or not, what does that have to do with anything. If you are a supporter, does it mean you're suppose to ignore those facts?

Now why don't you turn your attention to him for not answering my question about wondering if he thinks the supporter base is harmonious.
I repeat ( don't know what happened to my last post) I believe the disharmony does not lie with Wests Tigers fans but with those masquerade as fans but still support teams from a bygone era.ie Balmain and or Wests. What better time to have a crack at shaking things up when the team/club has had a very bad year. A few people passing round the matches at the moment but denying having anything to do with lighting the bonfires. Agree?

Dont worry mate Gnr is delusional. He knows so much about people. He can tell you everything about you and what you fo right or wrong.Only problem, hes yet to meet them.

No way, to go back to either Balmain or Wests is actually laughable. Weststigers have had more lows than highs but so have most other NRL sides except for salary cap roorters. How many other clubs have won a premiership within 5 years of being born?
West's and Balmain supporters can still follow those sides in state or metro cup anyway.
Just hope all the divisive BS will end soon

All the BS will end when we start being competitive again . Then when we win 3 premierships in a row , the JV will be the in thing !!!!

In the year 2088 we will be the competition hot shots

Unfortunately due to global warming though the game will be played in scuba gear :astonished:

@GNR and Blackpearl,I can see you are both passionate about your arguments regarding the J.V.I can understand what GNR is saying and also what Blackpearl is saying, that is the wonderful thing about our forum ,we can all agree to disagree on different topics if we want or we can take each other's opinions and see different aspects of both sides of the arguments and see positives,it's up to the individuals, having said that I was a Balmain boy all my life,I don't knock any Wests supporters and Iam not one sided towards Balmain, the Wests Tigers are my team and Iam very passionate about them, through highs and lows,OK we have had a bad year,But who do we point the finger at or is it a combination of different things .My honest opinion is THE MID SEASON REVIEW has a lot to answer for, ever since then we have gone backward twofold. Thanks guys and let's keep our chins up and stick together as one W.T… 😛ray: 😛ray:

I appreciate where you are coming from and understand your frustration. But do you think the Magpies would exist in any form in the Nrl competition today if they had not merged in 2000? My understanding is when the merge happened they were in dire straights and merging with another club was their only option with Balmain being the only taker - and who, at that time were financially viable and were a neighbouring club. Parramatta was only interested in a takeover, Souths refused to merge and other clubs were not deemed to be in danger due to healthy finances and or a good local junior base - and there were those that had also merged Fast forward to today and the situation is vastly different thanks to some poor management and bad decisions and growth in the outer western suburbs. Will you feel more satisfied when the new board is in place - or will continue to hope for the re- emergence of the Magpie as a single entity?

@Genoshan,I said in another thread couple of weeks ago,we are WestsTigers now although the two great clubs that came together in difficult times has made us the great team we have to support now and into the future..not forgetting the huge input both sides of the JV have given to rugby league in their own right over the years as separate entities, let's praise the past and get on with the future..

Transformation like this, the melding of two cultures and the creation of a new takes a generation. ie 25 years. We are well over the half way mark now and with the help of the NRL board members this process will continue to its conclusion. There is only one Wests Tigers and that day where it is the same for everyone is rapidly approaching. You can't force it without it being destructive. To change direction now would be a poor move and only create additional and unnecessary pain. It is happening now, just ask the kids. Soon it will be their children that follow Wests Tigers and it will be done. We certainly have not been a failure and we are on the cusp of greatness with the group of players we have now. Let's nurture them, get the processes behind them correct, and the new board will do this. Wait a little longer and it will be a long and prosperous future.

Sorry Mike ,just don't see it

While Balmain or Wests remains nothing can or will totally change

They will be the albatross circling mercilessly over our powerless WT's

You can't see it Happy because you come from the era of Wests and Balmain. There is a generation looming and their kids that only know the Wests Tigers. That's why it takes so long for this type of cultural change. When the kids pull you into line and go, you old fossil what are you talking about there is only Wests Tigers, Balmain and Wests are ancient history, I've never seen either. Then you'll understand.

Mike you are 100% correct the new supporters (kids) will be WT supporters they will neither know or care about Balmain or the Magpies just Wests Tigers.People like me who followed one of the merged clubs will become a smaller minority on a yearly basis most of us accept that and can deal with it however some never will unfortunately they seem to be the loudest. We will thrive in the future despite the pain that still exists with some

Well at this point I would like to own up to causing all this mess.

Back on grand final night in 2005 I wanted to win so much that I prayed to God. That's right, I got down on my knees and prayed to the Almighty that if the Tigers won that game then I wouldn't care if we didn't win ever again. Just please give me one Wests Tigers premiership.

There, so now you know. It's all my fault. Don't go blaming each other. I am so sorry for my weakness.

And now you have fessed up the curse is reversed.Lets go Wests tigers :sign: :sign:
