I am ok to scrap the anthem for these matches as long as they don’t then make this an indigenous celebration let’s keep the event neutral without the PC brigade being involved

Why shouldn't it be an indigenous celebration tho?

All Australians should be proud to sing our Anthem

Why? I’m a very proud Australian but I don’t even like our anthem, I think it’s terrible.

You can sing baby shark instead

I’m reminded of a George Carlin routine reading this. Pride is something you feel for something you achieve. Singing the anthem isn’t an achievement .

My son would have no complaints about that.

Pride is a sin.

I love my anthem , but why would I sing it for an all stars game

Play it when we win a gold at the Olympics and I'll sing it with a huge lump in my throat

It has its time

Agree. Terrible anthem-with the talent we have we should come up with something better.Sounds like something better suited to being sung as someone is lowered into a grave.

I'm going to agree with the ARLC on this one

My opinion , the national anthem should really only be played when AUSTRALIA is playing

Agree, its overplayed. It should be special and played at the start of International matches only.

Just curious, now that the national anthem is not being played i guess the Ernie Dingo made up Welcome to Country will also be cut from the agenda.

Now we're talking about something over used.

Whistle out your asshole

I can’t even whistle through my mouth.

To me it’s not the use or overuse that’s the issue. It’s that yet again we appease the loud voice. I won’t be watching.
Maybe I could protest about ‘welcome to country’ being rammed down my throat at every opening of an envelope

The event has lost me as a viewer. It's just divisive bulldust to me.

I am fine with this.

As long as there are no welcome to country, smoking or other ceremonies that may marginalise viewers who do not identify with a particular culture.

I very much doubt that will be happening

100% agree and it’s just a pity that these young indigenous players are too naive to realise they are being used as pawns in a game. A game that is creating ill will that does not need to exist

I don't have a problem with a group of people not wanting to sing the anthem if they feel it doesn't represent them and agitating for change!

They should get the Warumpi band to perform live. Great song that embraces unity

I thought we lived in Australia. This decision offends me.

As the son of an imigrant I love it and what it offered my parents almost 50 yrs ago.

I am and my kids are.nothing but Australian
