As I watch the final series

I don't know how confident I am that we have the team in 2014 to be in the 8 and not just make up the number..I know semifinal football is a different ball game but gee, looking at the likes of East, Souths, Manly and Newcastle, (not to mention Melbourne) I just wonder where we are going to have the strike power to hurt these guys next year…Not too sure about our upcoming stars either, except perhaps Brooks, yet to be proven IMHO at the highest level - where do Canberra and Penrith shop these days for juniors?? Seen the size of some of those guys?

Needless to say, I'll be at the games, supporting - but not with a great deal of confidence, I must admit... :sign:
Potter is the X factor.

A year is a long time in rugby league. With the right attitude and a small playing roster (I.e. few injuries) we will be there at the end of 2014

Rule interpretation will determine where we sit.

After a slump in ratings and attendence one would think the ground and pound wrestle-a-thon currently employed by the top teams will get pushed to the outer. You will see guys get binned for repeated infringements etc.

Wrestling is the worst thing to happen to this game. I just know how they will stamp it out

We had a terrible year this year, yet we absolutely dominated Melbourne in Melbourne. I think we can all agree the roster next year is much more balanced, the youth will have a season of experience plus a full off season, it all depends on our injury toll, we have a great young first team but not much experienced depth beyond that. If our lads stay injury free IMO we will place anywhere at the end of the regular season from 6 - 10\. Just depends on those damn injuries that keep hammering us. The funny thing is though the only year we had a good run with injuries we won the comp.

im quite optimistic about next year. not only because brooks will be a starter but because i think players such as tedesco, nofoaluma, simona and sirronen will start to form the core of the team. woods is pretty much already a leader for the pack as well.

i see 2014 as an "on the way up" year where the tigers should end up around 6-10 as liltiger says, with a far more stabilised team with a couple of seasons' foundation in 2015 really getting up there.

and lets face it: it has to be better than this year!!

Wrestling helps the team with the bigger players. It slows the play down so that the team with the faster players cannot build attacking momentum. It certainly is a blight on the game.

You are not crazy. The Tigers are a long long way off being able to compete physically with the top teams in the NRL. This is unlikely to change overnight.

as I watch the final series, I am really enjoying watching the Knights " giving it' to their more fancied opponents

as for wests-tigers, well know knows what next season will bring  .
highs, lows, frustration and no doubt anger at times, in saying that I would not have it any other way.

I hope for three or four more wins than we got this season.
More would be great
10 or 11 would be a pass….it will take time

Yep that was my thought Ink ,10 wins will be a pass in 2014

Your right about the rule changes, less interchanges and a move away from the wrestling crap will definitely help our cause not to mention the fact we'll have a nice healthy, talented squad with a lot more experience than they had this season.

Oh also hopefully the revamp the reffing system so it's not so bloody biased all the time. That would also help a lot!

On our day this season we matched it with the top teams. We stuck it to the Roosters for almost 55 minutes, we stuck it up Souths for 60 minutes, we held our own against Melbourne. It just comes down to putting in a consistent effort over 80 minutes, which will prove to be a challenge with such a young squad. Anasta, Farah, Blair, Halatau, Galloway, Fulton and Richards really need to step up and lead the way instead of being outplayed by our young players. I think season 2014 all comes down to attitude.

I remain optimistic. I think we have recruited well and a new culture is emerging.Players attitude must change , the rest will all take care of itself the talent is there. I'm not saying we will be minor premiers but I am sure there will be a dramatic improvement.

When you look at teams like Manly who have B Stewart, Lyon, Matai, Williams, Foran, DCE, Kite, Ballin, Watmough, G Stewart etc who all have played Origin or International, it seems a mammoth task to conquer. They always seem to recruit so well too. Lawrence, Horo and Symonds were some of the best signings this year, but that's a result of their continued success - it attracts players, and the opposite can be seen with Parra.
