As Long As We Stay Near The 8

I know everyone is dissapointed after today but I look at it like this.. As long as we are in the 8 or near it thats ok. Semis are a new ball game. It would be great to be firmly entrenched in it but we arn't.

Whether we finish 7th or 4th it doesn't matter because we would play our home semi at ANZ/Football Stadium. No real home ground advantage anyway. Hopefully we can stay near so when Marshall/Lawrence & Lote return we can make a charge.

Semis are a new ball game but there are real issues that need to get resolved.

I'm starting to think that Robbie is our no 1 problem. He consistently comes up with the wrong option at critical times. That cost us the game against the Dragons in the semis last year and Sheens needs to take his right to kick off him. It's killed us more than once this year and today is another example.

Our forwards I think can match any pack in the comp. Benji can conjure up a try out of nowhere. Our outside backs are good enough. We need a halfback and a fullback but McKinnon, Moltzen, Miller and Lui can sort this out.

Get Robbie playing like a good hooker and this team turns around.

Something has been up with Robbie for a while now. Could be something to do with that injury he was carrying a while ago, or maybe it's just bad form. Whatever it is, he needs to step up his game soon.

We will also have Lawrence and Tuqiri going into the finals (hopefully) so that will give us a boost. There's a long way to go until the season is over.

another good thread. yes stay near the eight, get in, thats all. We are built for semi final football. Its about in that time that we get our sshite together - mentally we are a different team in September. Whats up with that. Why does it always take so long.

Our forwards are going well ..Sheens has to spend massive amounts of time with our backs as this is the real problem I mean Benji mate throwing how many passes to no one PLease be more professional in your endevours ..and there are a couple that have to be dropped or at least one! If Sheens is serious about the remander of the season he has to make the hard choices because the backs are not working at all.In all honestly I think we can make a go of it this year but the coach is going to have to make some hard calls to do it IMO.

Mentally we are a different team cause its easy to get up for a semi. Its hard to et up every week at your absolute 100% intensity…thats just life. Today we were up for, I have no doubt, we wanted that bad, but we just were not good enough.

We can stay near the 8 but I couldnt see us putting on 4 good performances in the semis. Maybe its just me but I have always (and even last year) thought peoples perceptions on this team are too high. Sure any team in the semi can win the comp, its the nature of sport (I.E - once your in that elimination semi nothing that happened before matters), but seriously we are so far behind some of the top sides.

The class between us and the top teams is too far. If you are honest, and not many people are, but the Dragons were a far better team than us in that semi last year... they made more metres in the forwards, made more metres in the backs, had a 3000x better kicking game, while we couldnt get out of our half.

I believe that a football side cannot play great for a full season. Even St George as we have seen lately. I hope we can get all the bad stuff out of our game, Robbie finds form and we can take the semis by the throat.

At the moment theres a 3 game gap between 5th and 6th (us) and everyone below 5th is playing like utter garbage so who knows who's going to fall over the line into 6th through 8th at crunch time.
From there however anyone might be lucky enough to string a couple of wins together and make an impact.
