I think that is where we will see changes.

If it occurs, did Maguire request the changes or are they being forced upon him by the Club?

The club is reviewing the assistants.

Madge had Wayne Collins with him at Souths five years ago....Souths basically forced him to remove him and bring in someone with tactical nous, Seibold.

Madge then appoints Collins, his mate, to assist with us...despite Souths removing him five years ago for being out of touch.

Apparently Madge snubbed Flanagan, probably scared he would take his job.

Or the fact he is a multiple occasion cheat. Best decision Madge has made in a long time.

This. Any club that takes him on should have a long hard look at themselves and the type of culture they want to promote. Flanagan is a win at all costs type of person which is one of the reasons he cheated on such a scale.

Off to England, but should be marked never to return here.

All for redemption an all that but what he did was a massive breach of trust with his players and a massive no no for a leader. No real surprises given the broader issues at the Sharks when he was there. Not all tarred by the brush but enough.

Storm, and other clubs have cheated, the Broncos executive resigned so he could not be made to answer allegations, Johns had drug problems, Pangi threatened a policewoman, Lodge terrorised an American family, very few officials at those clubs were exiled, the list is extensive. Flannagan was not accused of giving peptides. He is no worse then a dozen others, the NRL did not pursue.

Unfortunately we've been the victims here because he's so worried about being replaced that he's hired the worst assistant coaches in the world.

Surprised no one has posted this yet.

https://www.weststigers.com.au/news/2021/07/27/35-down-ben-gardiner/

An insight into the life of Ben Gardiner, his progression as a coach, how he is juggling the COVID situation and his connection to Michael Maguire and Adam Hartigan.

I'd promote this bloke over the other guys who just seem to sit in the background and do buggerall.

He’s impressive isn’t he, talks really well. I like the part how he considers his position a great link between all the grades. Would be great to see him stick around and hopefully become an assistant under Madge and then maybe a successor down the track .

Well he's an educated man and he has also had the experience of working in several successful clubs such as the Roosters and Souths, so no doubt he's picked up some valuable experience, and I think we really saw that earlier in the year when our KOE side had great stability in terms of lineup, and were rattling away with winning games.

Adding him as a fulltime assistant might be difficult due to his role as a teacher, but he should at least remain in charge of KOE next season. Then again, I don't know what an NRL Assistant Coach earns so it might be enough to tempt him away from teaching.

Well they were recruited by Madge so I'd assume the latter.

So a decision has been made to appoint new assistants? Are you able to confirm names?

End of season review.
Nothing happen till after that I'd assume.

Hopefully some upgrades tho.

This was one of my criticisms of Madge - if he wants us to move forward, he has to as well, get over the past and lean to manage a team with other people. We don't all work with people we want to but we have to so that we can get a job done.

The past 3 seasons have shown that our progression has become stagnant. Given our history with coaches, sacking another one isn't the solution for us. Get some better people around him.

He has basically hired yes men who have zero desire to be first grade coaches / completely happy to do whatever he says.

Madge and Siebold was actually a great combo...the fearless leader who gave the big speeches + the very well educated, tactician.

For those who say Siebold has not done well at Newcastle as an assistant...probably hoping he gets the first grade job.

That was the problem...Siebold has always been 'the smartest bloke in the room' with tons of ambition. Madge got burnt.

If Madge doesn't go then all the assistants need to go. No doubts about it. Heads need to roll. Save the time and energy of a review and just tell them they're not wanted next season, like we did with BJ.

Madge definitely needs tactical / game analysis help. I think even his biggest supporters would admit it is not his strength.

Absolutely ZERO chance of Seibold and Madge ever working together though....to paraphrase Avocado in another thread, there is more likelihood of Tommy Talau winning the Dally M than those two ever working together again.

I would doubt if there is the slightest possibility seibold would get a start here.We have had more than our share of backstabbers from the board all the way through a few playing rosters.I am sure the club would avoid him at all costs

That worked out well for Brisbane

Just hope sheens will be involved in coaching you'd be an idiot not to dedication some time each week for some coaching with him and the boys

I am at a loss, if it's Madge thats the problem, or he,s just part of the problem. We have some talented young forwards, but little improvement in their performance. Our backline recruitment has been terrible, i can only think someone is overuling Hartigan, as he is one of the best in the game. I could not see Bellyach, Rickie, Robinson etc. not have a coaching team that would not lift our backline performance. Also these coaches would not percervere with the slow and poorly skilled players we have in this squad.
Maybe it's a case of the coach not admitting his mistakes,in some of his buys,
