Would be great to see Tim back at the club in some capacity, even if it is a desk job.

We have just removed the last link to 2005,why on earth would we want to bring in another one.We need to concentrate on the future not be fixated on the past.

You wouldn't let Flanagan anywhere near the Club, would be like buying a Fox (Not JAC) to look after the hen house. Putting him near all our youngsters would be the ultimate dumb move.

Would not have Marshall to advise the youngsters either as he nothing to offer. He was an "Off the Cuff" player, you cannot teach that, he was also not a game manager, could not defend etc. How is he going to teach them anything.

You need one of the Johns boys, Daley etc. not an "Off the Cuff player."

Benji would be ok to have around in media / marketing and that's about it.

If you have seen Benji breakdown plays he is actually pretty good, I actually think he could offer quite a bit.

Bad luck he doesn't do it on the field.

He could break down the play by actually tackling somebody.

What page would the breakdown of kicking on the second tackle with the season on the line be ?

we should probably cut him some slack for that play.seemed important at the time but we were miles off finals this yr

That’s the kind of thinking that has played a big part in restricting our progress imo.

Is he actually going to take up the role that we got bent over for by the NRL? Hopefully our club gains some sort of ROI that we've been handicapped for.

Ok, that's good?. Haven't heard anything about it that was all.
It's not going to help us on-field one iota but maybe Robbie can make a bit of a difference off the park, he's a persuasive and stubborn bugger!

Wests Tigers assistant coach: Shane Flanagan snubbed for reserve grade coach

Wests Tigers coach Michael Maguire is expected to promote within and shun several high-profile candidates in his search for a new assistant.

The Daily Telegraph has learned the Tigers’ Canterbury Cup coach, Wayne Collins, is set to win the race to be Maguire’s assistant at the Concord-based club.

A final decision will be reached next week when Maguire and Tigers chief executive Justin Pascoe return from a week’s leave.

Other speculated candidates include former Cronulla coach Shane Flanagan, Dragons assistant James Shepherd and Huddersfield boss Simon Woolford.

Maguire is still wrestling with the decision but did combine with Collins to deliver South Sydney their 2014 grand final win.

Collins – nicknamed Snoopy — has spent time in the Souths, Canberra, Penrith and St George Illawarra coaching systems.

He only coached the club’s Canterbury Cup side, Western Suburbs Magpies, in one game this year before COVID shut down the competition.

While aware of the external interest in coaching at Concord, Maguire does have a preference to promote from within.

The Tigers’ vacancy arose after assistant Andrew Webster left the club to join Penrith, replacing Canterbury-bound Trent Barrett.

Another Tigers assistant, former premiership-winning fullback, Brett Hodgson, has been moved along as part of a club overhaul. Shane Millard has been retained as an assistant.

Collins, 53, played more than 100 first grade games for Canberra, St George and South Queensland Crushers between 1988 and 1996. He also played in the 1992 and 1993 grand finals for the Dragons.

Wests haven’t yet appointed a Canterbury Cup coach to replace Collins, given there are no guarantees the competition will even be contested next season through COVID.

The Tigers’ new centre of excellence is due to be completed before the 2022 pre-season at Concord Oval, which has recently been demolished.

And the playing squad will welcome Panthers skipper and former NSW and Test forward James Tamou and young Parramatta prop Stefano Utoikamanu.

The Tigers haven’t played finals footy since 2011 with management well aware it must reinvigorate the club to find success.

That was never more evident than Maguire’s decision to reject re-signing club legend Benji Marshall for next season.

Flanagan remains without a club for 2021 despite his success as head coach at Cronulla, which culminated in winning the club’s first-ever premiership in 2016.

Woolford will finish his tenure at Huddersfield in a month and will return home in November.

Manly assistant John Cartwright is favourite to be named on Kevin Walters’ coaching staff at Brisbane. Never before in the game’s history has the movement among assistant coaches been so prevalent.

Was just about to post, I think Maguire is still burned by Siebold. He should be looking at who best serves the club, not who best serves him.

Always be losers is the Tigers .. a team that had no idea this season .. no structure .. no defence ...no idea now a coach that does not want to employ assistants that could rectify this situation.
He should be more worried about getting the punt for poor results than worried about someone wanting his job ... OH nothing changes in Tiger town such a mediocre lot !

Anyone know much about Wayne Collins?

Good bloke, smart coach and is a guy who goes really good working with younger, more inexperienced players. As mentioned in the article was Madge’s assistant in 2014 and lately he’s been working with NZ warriors doing dummy half training.

So is he going to be our defensive coach - we desperately need a quality defensive coach.

Well that will fix up most things a dummy half coach ??? other coaches surround themselves with professional assistants not our boy Madge !
