Probably works well that we have Liddle for that reason. They will no doubt push each other to be better players.

Liddle is 24 and he is a good player. It can take a while to make it in the top grade.

Depends on his natural fitness as well. Just like speed, high level anaerobic fitness is something you’re born with.

Come round 1 there’s no reason Liddle should have any huge advantage fitness wise. It’s not like he’s come off a season playing consistent big minutes.

Mahoney is 22 now and just starting to be up to be ready physically. He played 9 games as a teenager

Have you seen his injury record? Shoulders, repeatedly.

Liddle came in as a kid also, and three games after becoming a starter did his shoulder.

It is a hell of a lot to expect a kid to play that position and tackle 110-130 kilo forwards 40-50 times a game.

gotta be patient with Jake, but I think we'll certainly see him debut next year. as Ellery said, hookers take time, he's not going to be better than Grant and Farah after 3 weeks in the top grade.

You're underestimating this kid. He's physically ready and tough as nails.

Really? Have you actually thought about how you see the hooking position working out?

Do you see Liddle playing 80min for even a single game? Let alone a whole season! If not then what’s the other option...Reynolds?

I think if you really stop and think about it, Simpkin has a huge role to play next season.
