Has he ever played there? He has the spark to be very good in attack back there!
But, its a very important position in todays game and unless your familiar with that role, I'm not so sure.

I was waiting for this thread. It would solve a bunch of problems if the new kid could play at the back, since Potter obviously wants to run him but isn't quite sure where. I think if Austin could play fullback, Potter would have him there already.
You cant just put a player at fullback and hope to get a result.
It is a very technical position and the nuances take a long time to learn, I know people are critical of Rowe cause he is not offering much, but simply being in roughly the right place to get to the ball on the full or in the first couple bounces is more important than beating a couple tackles on the return. Obviously you wont someone to do both, but a make shift fullback is rarely the answer.
Austin at fullback is definitely not the answer. He is adding a bit of flair off the bench at the moment and I suspect when we get a bit more experience back and the kids get a few more games under the belt might seem him move into 5/8 at the expense of Anasta.

Rowe has been pretty good positionally, most of the time he has been in the correct position to field kicks, Sandow caught him out with a 40/20 but most of the time he has been sound. Under the high ball he has been reliable as most no1s running around, they all drop a few.
Where he falls down is his defense mainly and his lack of attacking instinct. He is ineffective in defense and he has become a target for the other teams.
In saying all this I would not play Austen at no1, he has more important things to do around the ruck

Wasn't meant to be a Rowe carve up guys, I think if Tedesco is 3-4 weeks away don't think there is any point in trying another youngster at this point. Plus think we need another general kicker and some sort of spark. He could duck into dummy half throughout the game aswell.
We look a much better team with him out there. Plus we are better with 4 forwards on the bench.

whilst blake austin is going well, we don't want a repeat of shuffling players around like deck chairs on the titanic.

Austin in for Anasta. Rowe at fullback, even though he is green. May as well give him the experience. We're getting down to minimums here and the back line is looking pretty fragile. Why fiddle and play people out of position? Better off giving people experience in position and cop it sweet.

I think Austin should be 6 or nowhere. 4 forwards on the bench works best and ideally 3 props and one backrower.
