Australian Fullback

Watching the Brisbane and Roosters game tonight has made me think about who should be the Australian fullback.

Boyd looks good when Brisbane is playing well and in Origin with class players. For me he is solid without being exceptional.

Obviously I am biased, but for me Teddy should be the Australian fullback. He offers that x-factor you don't get with Boyd and can win games for you.

Boyd has been close to his best this season and you couldn't begrudge him. On the other hand, he'd also be great on the wing, especially considering the incumbent left winger is unlikely to be there.

Agree 100%.
There is just no way that Boyd is better than Teddy yet he will more than likely retain his spot.

Meninga will figure out a way to get Oates in, so unlikely that Boyd would be on the wing, pity though, Oates is very good one day and then completely off for the next couple of games. And Teddy would kill it behind the Australian team

Yeah Boyd has been good. Even with Brisbane struggling of late Boyd has looked good and been their best attacking weapon. Teddy, Boyd and Mansour would be a good back 3 but I doubt they'll pick it. They'll want to stick with the Queensland spine.

Boyd will be chosen , and deservedly so based on club form and SOO

The only thing that might get Teddy home would be if we could get into the second week of the semis

There are a lot of options still right now to pick from
The obvious Boyd and Inglis who is no stranger to that role.
Other players can transition into that role if required but i suspect they will take 2 specialist Fullbacks in the WC

In terms of Teddy, his time will come and im sure it will be before Moylan

To play for NSW is on thing but for Australia is another, Im sure due to the class of players in there Teddy will shine even more when gets a chance

As much as im a Non Boyd fan he does manage to get tries
I have never liked that bloke (For some reason) but he always manages to score tries in club, soo games and for Australia.

Always manages to cross over the line despite the fact many of those are gift tries set up by his team mates

Should Australia not be looking towards the future? It honestly feels like Origin has divided the Australian team, and perhaps bringing in a few new players could help with team moral.

I saw glimpses in Boyd last night of how he was at the Knights when it gets all too hard.
He just gives up.
I dont think he has the hunger Teddy has, or the pride or passion

Boyd will be 3rd player picked for the Kangaroo Tour and is no chance of losing his jumper.

I put this in a prediction thread a few days ago, but I wont be surprised to see Teddy over-looked for this years Four Nations. With the selection table fairly political, I'd suggest the NSW Selectors will sacrafice Teddy for Moylan or J Bird due to there versatility, as the wont get too many NSW Players into the squad.

As far as certain selections go, Fullback is easily covered with Boyd, Inglis & Dugan.

I've never much taken to Boyd, and my missus (who is a knights fan) was scathing in her comments for a few years. But he has really improved his ball-playing this year and shown more ticker than before.
