Ayshford cleared of Glandular Fever - still in doubt..

it is great news by my reckoning!

he is a champion in the making - and that display after being crook for 48 hours prior displayed the grit of a really special player!

Really good signs, Ayshford had a hell of a game and has been consistent leading all the way up to this finals series.

That try gave him little justice as to the work he has put in, expecting to see some more big things!

Blake's fever scare eases

HE FEARED he was finished for the season, but blood test results today are expected to clear Wests Tigers centre Blake Ayshford of glandular fever.

Ayshford, 22, has a debilitating virus but doctors believe with a strong course of antibiotics he might still be able to play Canberra. After two days of listlessness and swollen glands, Ayshford said on Tuesday night: "I think I'll be out for the rest of the season."

But Wests Tigers doctor Donald Kuah said yesterday: "He [Ayshford] doesn't have glandular fever.

"He is crook, he has a sore throat and bit of a fever, like any other cold. His glands have flared up, but we haven't ruled him out from this weekend.

"He is doubtful for the game but we will monitor him each day."

Leading Sydney sports doctor Nathan Gibbs said the Wests Tigers drama with Ayshford was a warning for all players to remain hygienic."Players should be reminded of hygiene procedures like not wiping their faces on towels, or drinking from the same drink bottles and washing their hands," Gibbs said.

"Glandular fever is not as infectious as an illness like influenza. Following the swine flu epidemic last year, most teams have in place hygiene procedures that prevent the spread of germs among players."

Ayshford was resigned to missing the entire finals series, saying: "I don't know whether I can play or not, which is really disappointing because this is my first NRL final series."

He played sick on Saturday night and had a blinder and you want him to "harden up"

Well done

I'm referring to his comments when he said he would be "out for the season". He's not the first to play with a "cold" and won't be the last to play with a "cold". To confuse it with glandular fever is downright stupid

Our Doctors myust be stupid as well than because glandular fever was the first thing they thought to try and rule out
