Ayshford to lock?

i would leave him in the centres with lawerence. after the bulldogs game in round 26 andrew johns said he was a real quality player who is very capable of playing origin in the near future. In a couple of years i think we will be looking at the best centre combination in the nrl with ayshford and lawerence. maybe like another cooper and gasnier combination. they could defintiely reach origin and australia together. which would be great

one thing i noticed after watching ayshford live was he was very deceptively strong. his first contact on tackles is huge. in the manly game i was right in line with a one on one tackle he put on t.williams and you could see the impact jar williams head back. this happened numerous times on players carrying much more weight then him. its something you dont see on tv.

he is also very good at poking his head through the line. next year i expect this to create some offloads, as his confidence would grow.

although very lanky he obviously has a lot of power and plays well above his weight. i would leave him at center, with maybe a view to moving to the backrow in another 2-3 years.

I'd definitely have flannagan over Aysh at lock. Leave him in the centres….....
As for Flannagan, we need a ball player in the back row, he may be the answer.

Have u seen Flanagan play?

If its a choice between Ayshford or Flanagan at lock surely you would pick Makr so that Blake can continue to play in the centres.

I think there are better choices for lock regardless.

no way to lock yet hes only just started first grade and has played in the centres. hes way too small. maybe 2011 after he's had a decent period to actually bulk up.

on that note, lawrence at lock could be a good idea.

Lawrence will turn out to be a very good centre and it may be next year. Why would you even contemplate taking him away from there?

Lawrence and Ayshford will develop into a very good centre combination and maybe next year they will show it. Why would you even contemplate splitting this pair?

ayshford i'd keep in the centres, but lawrence was a passenger in attack at times. centres arent what they used to be. the more ball he is getting the better for him and the better for the tigers. he'd see alot more ball at lock. plus hes tough and big now. he's the perfect mould for lock.

It strikes me as amusing that centers are now described as a 'combination' when they obviously play on opposite sides of the field & never ever even pass the ball to each other.

He is a top centre but at fullback or lock I reckon he'd be a gun. I'd love to see him get a go at fullback.

Ayshford should remain at centre and let him develop.

It would be a silly move to put him at lock now. Maybe down the track but if it aint broke….dont fix it.

Ayshford was an integral part of our teams improvement in the back end of the year. He stiffened up our defense. Remeber the Collis and Ryan defensive combo. The way I see it is we let Collis go and throw in Ayshford, get plenty of change left over and the team is stronger.
Lawrence would go better at lock, but I wouldn't move him when we have plenty of guys that can fill that position. I'd be very tempted to use Fulton personally.
At this stage our backline looks good, don't play around with what worked late last year.

Peter O'Sullivan was on radio 2sm 1269 Talkinsport yesterdy was quite disapointed that his predecesors at the Roosters let Blake leave the club, He gave him quite a wap.
