Another quality signing by the club. Feel for the bloke himself.

This is the general feeling.

However some are having a hard time getting their head around it.

No one is having a go at Ballin.

Yeah cos "60 minute Ballin" isn't having a go at all.

Funny stuff, seriously people are watching their p&qs with Ballin.
And absolutely hammer a club legend like farah who has been one of our best players for years….
Pathetic really!

Oh right sorry I wasn't aware that Farah had suffered a knee injury that was likely to end his career. People feeling sorry for a bloke really is pathetic isn't it…

You're right, all this sympathy fo someone who was mainly signed to be used as a leverage tool to force Farah to leave. Cherrington was the flavour of the month, when Matt was signed. If we really needed a Extra hooker, we wouldn't sign another 32 year old with suspect knees, as I've said before, Manly were relieved to see him leave,
While reports that he is a good bloke, is probably true. He was being used by Taylor . And it wasn't for his ability on field.
I doubt that there would be one WTs supporter who was happy to hear about his knee problem, but the adulation coming from some is way OOT
The fact is that , what has been reported to have happened, was always a strong possibility.
How quickly some forget whatFarah has done over the years, and the fact that he is still playing at a high level, and that is seen by his form in SOO where he gets to play with first graders rather than the standard of some players that we have here, I'm looking forward to see him with someone like ET who actually runs on to the Ball.
Good luck to Matt as a person. And with his injury
As a footballer, who played less than an hour for the club ,certainly not a loss football wise .

Oh … what adulation? Seriously, quote this "adulation" from anywhere in this thread. A bit of sympathy for a bloke and some attempts to take a bit of a balanced view are all you'll find but as usual all you're interested in doing is making it all about Robbie Farah.

At the time I thought it was a good signing.
Came in for us at the league minimum (the rest subsidised by Manly)
At a time we were looking to move Farah on, as a stop gap for the talented kids they have coming through.
He is a very professional guy who would add alot off the field.

Every club makes loads of these type signings with varying degrees of success. Not everyone in your squad is going to be pushing for origin selection. Canberra made a similar signing with Soliola worked out great.

Im not a fan of having a hooker on the bench.

Robbie can handle eighty and it frees up a bench spot.

That way you could have a feller like Rankin there who can cover nearly all the backline spots if someone goes down!

With all the head knocks these days i reckon it makes sense.

Why was it such a risky signing? So he did an ACL last year, so what? I'm not aware of it being a recurrent problem throughout his career. He was only 31 when he did it and is only 32 now, his capacity to recover from that injury would not be noticeably different from someone in their mid to late 20's. His odds were good to make a recovery, especially given they took a conservative approach to the surgery and to bringing him back.

Sure there was some risk and unfortunately it has been realised but people carrying on like it was inevitable and they "knew it was going to happen" are just being dicks to be honest. There's all kinds of risks that go with recruitment. I'm sure they took advice from doctors on the odds of recovery and made a call accordingly.

Stop being so damned reasonable Nelson. That kind of carry on has no place around here.

Read today in Fox that the Tigers are looking forward to him being ready for the start of 2017\. Yep amazing as it is its true.

The difference between Farah and Ballin is quite obvious. Ballin is or was a winner. Farah is not a winner much like the rest of our side. The sooner we all move on from the Farah era and bring some winners to the club the better. Just my opinion.

Hilarious

This is funny isn't it. We should resign him. He is a great trainer.

As I was trying to craft my own reply I saw this and thought Nelson's done it for me. I agree.

No one that I can remember saying that they "knew "it would happen,
A lot is us said it was a " big risk "to sign him ,especially as it was mainly a strategy from Taylor to try and make Farah think that he would be in reserves. .
Farah called his Bluff and away we go with a signing that was likely to be wasted.
If you've ever had a knee reco, you would know that there was a big risk to that knee again, as well as more chance at that age, of having problems with knees that had a previous injury or even knees that hadn't. Manly last year had reservations about him being able to recover, and they were proved correct.
No one knew for sure, but we jumped in anyway.
Now it looks like we'll tie up a spot in our top team for someone who's had TWO and will be 33\. As I said, Looney Toons is alive and well at WTs ( if true)

Manly were proved correct with Ballin, but not with Moltzen. Shows that it could happen to anyone and WT is no better or worse than the others in terms of luck.

Farah can put himself into or out of reserves based on attitude and form, just like everyone else. Even the much maligned Taylor, Scarecrow, pastie white, skeleton or moron (or whatever names he is being called) could not avoid picking Farah if he follwos the coaches rules and plans, plays well and displays a good team attitude.

Manly never expressed any concerns over Ballin's recovery, he was cut prior to doing his ACL because he wasn't part of Barrett's plans (that was all going on behind the scenes prior to Toovey actually being punted). GCT is just making up history to suit his argument.

Has it been confirmed anywhere, by medical staff or a knee specialist, that Matt Ballin actually requires another re construction ?

Wests Tigers can provide the following injury update ahead of the Club’s Round 14 clash against the South Sydney Rabbitohs this Friday night at ANZ Stadium.
>
**_After missing Sunday’s game against the Sydney Roosters, Wests Tigers can confirm that hooker Matt Ballin will miss the the remainder of the season.\
\
Ballin, who signed for Wests Tigers at the start of 2016, made his Club debut in Round 11 against the Newcastle Knights after missing the opening 10 rounds of the year with his recovery from an off-season knee reconstruction. After playing in the Club’s Round 11 win over the Broncos, scans on Ballin’s knee showed that the hooker would need another surgery before taking the field again — sidelining him for the rest of the year.\
\
Ballin has not suffered the same injury that he came to Wests Tigers with, and has not ruptured again the same injury which he had surgery on last year.\
\
The Club is extremely confident of having him in the team for the opening game of 2017._**
Wests Tigers can also provide the latest injury news on Tim Grant and Curtis Sironen.
>
Grant (rib) is expected to make his return this Friday night against the South Sydney Rabbitohs, while Sironen (foot) is expected to be available for selection in Round 16.
>
James Tedesco made a successful return from his shoulder injury last Sunday, scoring a try in the Club’s defeat to the Roosters, and is right for selection this week.
