Balmain hijack Wests Tigers Gala Ball night

I agree the Bias towards Wests Magpies in this joint venture is disgusting

- A Magpie logo on one sleeve of the Jersey but no Balmain logo
- Leichardt gets 4 games and no trials , Campbelltown got 4 games but 1 trial as well - despite their being consistently bigger crowds at the Leichardt games
- Home Base at Concord which is in the region of the old Wests grounds
- Our sponsors page only lists Balmain leagues as one single club despite the multiple locations while Wests get separate recognition of both leagues clubs
- Wests Tigers smothering the history of Balmain by hijacking Balmain events and making them Wests Tigers events while allowing Wests to host their own events

I totally agree with Bug the unfair discrimination against one side of the joint venture really isn't fair

CB,
I dont know what you mean about me wanting Wests Maggies to stand alone. I have never said that. Wests Tigers only thanks.

Dont twist things.

Im saying its not right for Balmain to do there Hall of Fame thingo at a Wests Tigers function and its not right for Wests Tigers to allow it to occur. It all comes down to perception and I perceive it as yet another bit of favouritism shown towards Balmain.

Thats just how I perceive it.

Please dont make personal attacks against me. I dont make personal attacks against you. Willow at times is on a massive power trip abd closes threads when they dont go the way he wants but you CB, c'mon man.

There was no personal attack against you Bug. It's just the way you're perceiving things.

Bug, my post wasn't addressing your OP mate. I was addressing the forum proper due to comments made after the fact that actually contradicted your OP. Believe it or not, I actually wasn't taking a shot at you.

Good call boony that is true and you never hear any old balmain supporters complaining about it.

I cant see anyone been offensive in any of this thread.

Too funny!!!!!

it seems to be referred to as "Tigers Ball" on the website in most places including the booking form.

I've been to all but one of the Balmain Hall of Fame dinners and that was because i was living overseas. It seems to me that those sold out events are now being incorporated into a combined event with Wests Tigers.

I haven't seen the figures but the HoF events seemed to run at a profit or at least break even so i don't see why Balmain would need Wests Tigers to bail them out to keep the event running. I also doubt whether they would deny Wests Magpies the right to be a part of it if it were a Wests Tigers event.

Anyway, i think this is another one of those pointless topics which keeps me away from here a lot.

bug's rant is hiding the real truth, the fact that the head honchos at Wests are poor managers who are crying foul* because Balmain are always one step ahead of them at every turn. What bug really wants to say is that Wests have been embarrassed time and time again by better management, planning and coordination by a vastly under-resourced Balmain team.

This isn't new for Wests though, but their supporters keep trying to blame others without blaming the real people responsible, that being the people at Western Suburbs who have year after year, decade after decade, failed to fix the problems that exist at the core. First it's the ARL's fault, then it's News Limited's fault, now it's Sheens.

It's sad though because everyone here wants both sides to succeed so we should all be feeling the same way as Bug, but I have no sympathy for anyone or anything that can't get their own act sorted first**.

Football Darwinism at its finest.

*bug seems to be the only one crying foul actually. I haven't seen Wests crying anywhere, just their fan and/or fans.
**we are assuming that everything bug says is gospel and that there is a hidden agreement signed between Camp Concord and Waterloo Street to undermine Wests & get Balmain back in the top grade

umm wests is very poorly run because our junior and senior numbers are rising every year and our rep teams (sg ball and harold mmatthews) both made the semis.most of the Wests tigers juniors are coming thru wests side oh and wests is still called wests.Balmain is so well run because they have no a grade competition no rep teams making semis and they had to take half of wests players for nsw cup.On top of this the manchester united half of the joint venture "balmain" are so well run they are no longer balmain they are ryde eastwood which in reality is nowhere near balmain. :roll

Yout post has nothing to do with the running of the club does it and fancy you guys mentioning ryde as not near balmain i think pratten parks comments are interesting and very true.

How about this for a change of perspective. The joint venture is a homecoming. Wests Tigers have based themselves at Concord Oval, once known as St Lukes. Western Suburbs Magpies played 34 games at St Lukes between 1910 and 1942\. Concord as a home base is within the traditional western suburbs magpies area, close to our two spiritual homes, Pratten Park at Ashfield (where we played 320 games between 1912 and 1985, winning 178), and Lidcombe Oval (where we played 199 games between 1951 and 1986, winning 107 matches).

Now you call c-town home no where near your heartland.haha

its Wests Tigers heartland
