Balmain hijack Wests Tigers Gala Ball night

Willow,
Can you name one thing that the Balmain side of the joint venture are disadvantaged on in regards to what they get from the JV?

I bet you cant.

As a Wests Magpies / WT fan, I can name half a dozen.

They have to travel to Leumeah 4 times a year!!!

I am dissapointed with those stating they are from one side or the other. While I formerly was a Balmain supporter I am now a Wests Tigers supporter - not a balmain or Wests Magpies supporter.

My preferred suggestion would be that the Balmain and Wests Magpies brands be replaced completly by Wests Tigers brand. For example only 1 hall of fame, all the leagues clubs branded Wests Tigers Leagues clubs etc

As for disadvantages/ advantages for one side or another - we aren't sides we are one club Wests Tigers - All of us have the same colors - no matter which side you used to be on. If you want to support a NSW cup side only then make that choice - in NSW cup I support Newtown - Nothing more enjoyable then a day on the Hill at Henson

I think it is a good idea as it shows Balmains support for the JV and the fact they are part of it.To be honest i am very surprised that Wests Magpies dont do the same thing.

Jadtiger, Willow and others,
The issue is equity, fairness and image.

Balmain do everything they can to piggyback on Wests Tigers Functions and events by clinging on to things like this. Balmain do everything they can to have people only refer to Wests Tigers as the 'Tigers' and make out that Wests Tigers are primarily 'Balmain' by pushing the extinct Balmain name at every Wests Tigers event and function possible.

Wests Magpies dont do it because they have decency and they do not think its right.

For goodness sakes Balmain no longer even has a Mens open age side. They are only represented in the junior comps.

Bug most ex balmain fans live out west we dont sip lattes in balmain and we fgo to c-town…do we say wests fans dont go to leichhardt no we dont but you have something stuck in your head that wont go away

The issue is image and the perception of the public. The more and more that this happens, the more the general public will think that Balmain are the Wests Tigers and the Wests Magpies involvment in the joint venture is minimal or non existant.

The equity in public image is just not there.

Bug, it would not bother me in the slightest if Wests Magpies were doing this, I'd wish them the best of luck as well. Again, the Wests V Balmain debate is dead and really should not enter the equation. I support the Wests Tigers. You stick with your agenda if it makes you feel better though. Some of us are mature enough to know that this is a non-issue and can look past it towards a better future for the Wests Tigers.

Im not going to add much to this topic….WILLOW see what i mean its always the ex wests fans....always...Who really cares what hes whinging about....yesterday he makes a goose of himself by claiming it was his letter to the club was why they wore white and it was proven it was a nrl decision....AND OF COURSE yOU GET A FEW OTHER EX MAGPIE FANS AGREEING....THE USUAL ONES.

The day will come when Wests Tigers won't need either club…
I look forward to this as surely, It will end the debate....
The Magpies have been treated unfairly by the entire world since before Canterbury stole Baa Baa...
Is there enough Violins in this world?

Actually, it started in the late 1930's with the introduction of Canterbury and St. George and the change of the residency rule to accommodate those two clubs.

Lol lamb was a canterbury junior they got him back. late30s omg….

What is wrong with pointing out the original cause of rivalry with Canterbury since the 1930's? I was just pointing out the rivalry started well before Lamb moved between the clubs.

The fact of the matter is, that Balmain has been having a Tigers Ball for a few years now and Wests Tigers agreed to join the event to make it even bigger. Some of you people need to get your facts straight before you pound the keyboard and type dribble.

Got nothing to do with mergers dissecting or anything else your narrow minds can muster, just purely a function celebrating the Tiger spirit. I for one have put my money where my mouth is bought a table for the night any of you whingers prepared to do the same? I doubt it you would rather whinge and carry on like you know everything and try to find rubbish that dont exist in the first instance, these topics only show how people like bug as passionate as they are as supporters when it comes to the crunch know very little about the club they support, and impotantly if we were all the same their would be no merger and that would be a shame. Grow up bug and move on before you get squashed.

Youre going to a function.
Good for you.
Youre one hell of a supporter, a true supporter - really

Willow,
I look forward to all the Balmain v Wests stuff to die abd that we all move forward as WT supporters but that will never happen with the way things are currently being done.

At the end of the day Bug, I'm not the one crying over spilt milk. I'm not here to debate the whole Balmain Vs Wests saga that you refuse to let go of. It's really quite petulant and childish and achieves nothing and you're making this an issue when it really isn't. The fact that you feel the need to ridicule the coach in your avatar suggests you have trouble moving forward and supporting the club.

Willow the fact that you cant answer my question is what im all about. Its not 'spilt milk' to us old Magpies supporters mate, its alot more important than that. The fact that you cant see it is interesting.

I support Wests Tigers with my life, but it does not mean I have to support the coach's decisions or that of the club whenever they favour Balmain and dig the knife into Wests.

Balmain have a luxurious ride in this JV.

To be honest Bug I would have to sit down and think about what times Balmain have been disadvantaged and I am sure there are examples but I really don't want to. I don't want to approach the Wests Tigers joint venture with that perspective. I see that no good can come of it.

The fact that you got who has horned in on what event wrong from the beginning gives a pretty poor reflection of the biased, attacking attitude in which you can sometimes approach this issue. You most likely have your reasons but what really comes of it?

Take it up with the club then Bug. This thread really is an exercise in futility if you haven't realised it by now.

Close it and every other one like this it becomes a balmain wests thing despite him saying it dont.He makes it.

From the outside looking in id say he doesnt support wests tigers he does nothing but rubbish them.

HARDLY a post that isnt having a stab at them in some capacity.

Glad you liked it….was just reiterating what i had said to willow a few weeks ago.

You cant help yourself though can you.

Well I hope Stephen Humphreys does do something for 'the other side of the Joint Venture' as he calls us. Apart from the WESTS v ST GEORGE celebrations.

Maybe announce all NRL players will play for Wests next year

So go from playing with Balmain to Wests??????? This club likes to move forward, not go backwards. The boys will continue to play with the highly regarded Balmain
