Balmain Junior Reps Rd 3

Strong start to the second stanza from the Coast boys 12 - 8 Tigers. Both CC try's went unconverted

Balmain Tigers Harold Matthews held on to their lead for a 12 - 8 win over CC Centurions.

Pretty scrappy affair from reports, much like the CC's match last week.

Lots to work on but a win is a win

Just back from a great afternoon down at Woy Woy Oval.

Matts were a little lucky to hang on. Handling was terrible in the second half. CC were excellent though - they've only let in a try a game until today. Didn't think our halves offered much and the kicking game was pretty average.

Ball were very good. I was impressed by Salesi Funaki and Leki Taumalolo but Mitchell Moses was a standout. Very impressed by him. Whole backline looked sharp. Luke Brooks was a mixed bag when he came on. Scored a great solo try and defended well but understandably his timing was a little out and he threw some bad passes.

Is Mitchell Moses Benny Elias nephew?? Got a feeling I read it somewhere

Yes I believe that's correct. He is a very promising player based on what I saw today.

That win should put Balmain SG ball at the top of the ladder on percentages, the only other undefeated teams are Manly and Penrith.

Mitchell Moses is brilliant don't know what his best position is maybe 5/8\. His a bit faster than Benny but he does seem to have a lot of the Benny magic.

30 points today for Moses, I am still a bit concerned about sluggish starts to games. Can't complain about the way have been finishing off games though. I am not sure if it is too good for the team to rest players, 6 from last weeks line up were rested this week but with only 9 rounds I would prefer to see the best team picked each week.
Some great defence and a good long distance try for Brooksy was encouraging for him. Looking at the all of the other results there doesn't seem to be many consistent teams apart from Balmain and Manly, Penrith only just got away with St George, Souths lost to Canberra and Cronulla drew with WA. Looking good for the Tigers IMO.

Yeah that opening try was a bit soft but gee they're got some strike power. I think it was 0-6 after the opening 10 minutes, Don't think we got a penalty until 45-50 minutes in either…
