The 1993 game from the SCG is one of the choice this week…

It was, I was at the game and had it on tape, unfortunately the tape died and I lost pretty much the whole game.

If anyone's taping I would love a copy

Info screen on foxtel says the 1993 clash was the last time balmain and souths played at scg since the 1987 grand final

I think thats a mistake!!

It says "the previous first grade game at the SCG was the 1987 Grand Final:.

That is - this was the first top grade game played there since the 87 GF!!

Nothing to do with last times Souths or Balmain played!!!

Sfs was opened in 88 so the scg and league parted ways

Just finished watching the game, ahhh bought back memories, how good could the Tigers have been in spite of Alan Jones knowing absolute Fark ALL about League.
What struck me is how seemingly half the Balmain side ended up at Souths over the next few seasons and only one Souths player came to Balmain via Manly.
Jacin Sinclair was the greatest talent lost, spat the dummy with Wayne Pearce and then was lost in the wilderness, came back to Balmain eventually but was never the same player, Mark Geyer, MG should of been great for the Tigers but only had half a year and was really only treading water until the Western Reds came along.
The impeccably groomed Brian Smith departed to the Roosters, Jamie Corcoran who I was surprised ever played for Balmain again went to Souths as did Martin Masella, Matt Munro and eventually Tim Brasher.
Brasher tried to hold the Tigers to ransom but folded when the negotiations got tough and the only club that would have him was Souths, Steve Edmed signed for Super League and ended up at the Cowboys, good choice.
Danny Stapleton suffered a career ending injury at the Sea Gulls but the rest stuck with the Tigers for a while before being punted and the one player who never proceeded with his career but should have was Michael Brown.
There were tough times in the years following for the Tigers but what doesn't kill you only makes you stronger.
