Bateman, Klemmer

100% Bateman gives a shit on field , he has a go , tackles his guts out and can take a player out of the game for you , he needs the other players to be doing their job as well , we don’t have that happening each week , we have 3 or 4 players each game playing very average , Richo and Benji need to make some callers very quick and start tapping players to move on plus get some new guys who have a crack into our team , I would upgrade Pole , Try and keep Stef and go grab another front rower and a back rower and a big wingers
Move Klemmer to England
tap , Sulivan , Tumeth , Feledy , Naden , and a few more ( 3 ) straight away , tell them Reserve grade is where you are from now on , no chance of first grade at all , brutal but needs to be done ,

Leaving it to the offseason obviously

Klemmer is done for me. Too slow, too many ill-disciplined actions.

Not Batemans biggest fan but thought he played quite well tonight. Still not big enough to really trouble defences on the edge but he’s a hard worker and handy when he doesn’t lose the plot.
Mate i say the same about Klemmer, looks very slow, which makes him easy pickens for defenders.

Tbh after rewatching the game Bateman does have a red hot go and I may have over reacted but the mistakes he makes are I excusable imo. Still can't drop him he just needs to be big when we need.

Bateman, Klemmer, Sezer and Api all made key errors last night. At least Bateman, Sezer and Api fight to overcome it through some tenacious efforts.

Klemmer, who I was saying at the end of last year was a rock in the middle off the back of good numbers and consistency, has had his form fall off a cliff this season.

While we're griping, can we put the Matamua circus to bed? Short of being able to pass the ball at the line, his defence, urgency, ability to control the ruck and fitness are deplorable.

Piss him off.

Whatever Tigers fans think of Klemmer and Bateman, (also Matamua & Porter, Tumeth), they simply don’t provide enough go forward or dominant defence to justify their spots in any top 8 future Tigers team. We need to work on moving them on for us to open up some spots and improve the impact of our pack.
Of course I could also name 3-4 current backs that we need to rid as well coz we certainly need 2-3 NRL Winger/ Centres.
A handful of real NRL quality players injected into these positions to support Luai and Turuva and the select young stars, will see us finally turn a corner.
Please Richo and Benji, make this happen!!!
Well said

I'm not a fan of Bateman at all - but he wasn't bad tonight.
I feel he didn't try to hard. Like I hate when he tries to put the game in his hands and win it himself. I feel that he didn't do that which made him look a lot better in the side.
If you get what I mean.

Yup - hate that about him.

AD has the same problem.

Klemmer has lost way too much weight. He's ridiculously skinny now. Better he puts on another 5kgs and get some more muscle back.
Why do we hate players with size and power so much? It's a big mans game, we keep on selecting little people.

In defence, he is alright. Seems to lack power though.

In attack, he doesn't break the line so he gives us no threat.

Your backrowers need to be able to make a break. Fainu is doing ok on his edge in both attack and defence. If Bateman can only contribute in defence, he needs to be flawless in errors and stop giving away cheap penalties. These things let him down a lot.

Klemmer I agree with, he displays absolutely no dynamism and I'm afraid the opposition use his lumbering play, with no offload threat at all, to slow down our attack. We are definitely a higher threat when Klemmer is taken off.

Forwards these days need to be dynamic, you need to build tackle after tackle into a continuous momentum of play. You can only attack properly after disrupting the defence with this momentum. Forwards need one or more of: footwork, quick PTB, post-contact metres, power, offload, hole-running. Lumbering props used to be ok because they would drag in multiple attackers, but modern defences actually prefer this slow-down and now intentionally commit multiple defenders to disrupt the tempo of the attack.

This is where Klemmer gets stuck. He is willing but he telegraphs his runs, he is a big frame, but he rarely bumps or buffers or releases an offload arm, so the opponent makes shoulder contact then slowly bring him down. I think his time is done and unfortunately I think we've signed him for too long a contract. I'd much prefer to give his money to young and willing dynamic forwards and just try to get them to rip and tear.

Bateman - I don't know, I though he was pretty good against Storm. I do agree there are at time many errors and odd decisions in his game, but I think if the rest of the team can play to a decent standard we can afford the brain explosion vs unpredictable play risk balancing that Bateman brings. I believe you can't win footy if you are too telegraphed and Bateman is almost the opposite of how telegraphed Klemmer is.

What a great post. Got Klemmer spot on.

Bateman is just... I don't know. Kind of like a veteran version of the kid in under 12's who has zero talent, but is slightly not all there and maniacally runs around with overly abundant enthusiastiam every week when he gets on so he gets the old "coach's trophy" at the end of the season.

I also think his run metres should be measured with an oscilloscope because I'm sure his gps tracker would show he runs for 426m every week - 43 of which are actually towards the right try line....

He's crap.

Klemmer zero passion - just going through the motions. Looks like no love for the game or the jersey - just seeing out his days in footy.

Yep and Bateman is no better in fact in some ways he is worse because we paid a transfer fee to get him here and signed him for 4 ghastly years. Thanks Sheens you hit a new low with these 2.
