No time for junky pieces of garbage. I couldn't care less if he doesn't play again. There are 100 kids ready to take his place.

Get smashed on the piss on Mad Monday. Sweet as. Have a line of coke and you're a junkie? Yeah makes sense. Who gives a s*** what they do on Mad Monday. I'd hate to see him leave the NRL he had a great year. Not to mention the fact that the Tiger Sharks might now be throwing a lot of money at Tedesco.

Oh, OK. Cocaine is good, especially just once and it was an accident.

Sorry i dont share the same harmless view.

And the sharks throwing money at Tedesco has me no more scared than the other 14 teams throwing money at him.

Where did I say cocaine was good? That really has nothing to do with it. It is his body he can ingest whatever he wants. Now I am waiting for you to tell me how good alcohol is for you. Because it's legal it's a harmless drug :roll

Not sure i mentioned alcohol at all. But now you ask, both ruin lives in diffeerent ways and i have seen first hand. Not interested in entering the petty argument with you, but i share a differing opinion to you obviously and thats cool.

Is it fair to say i was right (aimed at the haters)

And there is another big player that could be leaving a club in the coming weeks

Blah, blah, blah he has issues to sort out. Has been released from his contract, blah, blah, blah. Hopefully will come back once he gets it together. In other words instead of 500,000 of the cap being eaten up by a player that will miss half the season they now have nothing contributing to their cap next year (thus buying 2nd tier relief) before they re-sign him the year after if they want.

What a scam!!

I think that was largely due to some peoples past experiences on the forum and the fact that was your first post
I am assuming the player would be going to the cows, roosters, knights or drags

We love a scoop but less in love with hint hint type stuff.

Who is it and where are they maybe going?

I note that Buzz and the club are keen to point out that Barba was the only player to test positive. Is that because the rest of the players were partaking in substances that cannot be detected, as they have admitted doing in the past?

Buzz is an expert on NRL player welfare.

Good call though mate , keep the goss coming

What a joke the NRL are!! The reports are now that he may be resigned by Cronulla and play from rnd 10 onwards. Cronulla would offer him a reduced contract saving them up to $350k off their cap.
Another ex super league team given a dream run. Also no mention whatsoever of what they are doing to help Barba through his problems. How about player welfare now Buzz.

The NRL are once again looking like a basket case. Okay early days but the Sharks are trying to look like the good guys here but in actual fact seen to have put a plan in place where they are in a win win situation. Its smells like the work of people who have had plenty of practice at brand name repair.

Anyway Greenberg has make sure this thing is handled correctly or once again the NRL will look silly

Was not going to have a say on this but I just think it's time for the NRL , AFL and others to draw the line in the sand , get caught , You Are Done for Life , there is way to much drugs around now that our kids can get a hold of with ease , we don't want sports stars getting caught smack on the hand and welcome back , shows the wrong punishment , stern punishment will make people think twice we need to remember the next lot of star players could be out there now at age 12 or 13 they need to understand you can earn great money or loose it all , players get paid so much money now to play the game so we need to make sure they play by the rules ,
Ben Barber is a quality player but another will come along ,

When the broader community hands out the same punishments you might have a argument, but at present you can not deny a kid his weekly pay packet because he made a mistake or two. Iam sure half the big money earners around town would not get sacked for their first or even second offence doing lines.

Not saying it is a good thing and yes they are role models, but they also have to work on the prevention side of things rather than harsh punishments

Just playing the devil's advocate on this one but how do you stop this behaviour from people like Barba (I think that it is second, probably third time he has been caught playing with hard drugs) other than giving out harsh punishment?

The NRL have demonstrated time and again that they do not really give a toss about how they are perceived-they are happy to let bad incidents get swept under the carpet and forgotton about over time.
This will be another of those instances IMO, Barba will be back playing NRL like nothing has happened before you know it. The NRL is famous for giving worthless tossers a 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 10th chance at redemption…....moreso if they are good players. The "Joe Bloggs" of the game aren't afforded the same luxury.

Harsh punishments are the best form of prevention in my book.
This politically correct limp-wristed age we live in where people are whisked away to rehab facilities in tropical paradises is just crap. It solves nothing. Ban players for life over indiscretions and the next generation coming through are under no illusions that to make the most of their privilege of playing 1st grade RL and potentially earning massive money, they must forsake a few things in life or risk being turfed out of the NRL.

Politically correct, no simply correct. Prohibition doesn't work, never has, never will. As I write, there are many, many millions of people partaking in substance use, whether legal or not and many prescribed. Having stated that, Barba is contracted and must pay some consequence.

I truly hope that if/when the time comes that my young son decides to try social drugs, our community has woken up. I don't want sections of the public living in fear whilst criminals fighting over their lucrative narcotics trade are shooting up neighbourhoods whilst their drug labs are preparing polluted dangerous concoctions that cost lives. I would much rather that a clean controlled product was available to him and/or his friends when that day inevitability arrives.

Joe Bloggs would likely find himself sacked if he tested positive for drugs or turned up to work under the influence. Why would/should Rugby League be treated any different than any other professional environment?

Joe Bloggs also isn't usually an ambassador for a brand or company, and would likely not have anti-drug policies written into contract.
