He bad mouthed us twice. He is not a club hero. Irrelevant thread. Sorry. Loved what he provided but his commentary against us negates it all. Talk about him on the rabbits forum

He's still a club hero.

He is quite arrogant in the way he goes about things but he's easily one of the best players we've ever had, no matter what happens.

One of the best - yes. But he’s no club hero to me mate. But that’s just my personal opinion. He craps on the club every chance he gets which I think is piss poor.

He brought a lot to the club and was a great player but I agree no club hero due to the way he slams the club. Time will change that as these things will be forgotten by most.

It made me sick how Tiger fans cheered as he came onto the field for the Rabbits against us.

Agree he was good upto 2011. Highlights reel.player

Who is this Benji Marshall person?

The greatest player that this club has ever produced.
The greatest player to ever wear this club’s jersey.

Being a great club champion is lot more than what you do on the paddock. Chris Lawrence is the prototype of a club champion, not Benji

Yep. I don't get the anger towards him.

Getting downvoted for stating that shows the anger towards him by some. I don't get it.

Nup, doesn't ring any bells

We can't say congratulations on his newborn without dragging in a debate on what he did/said about the club anymore?

Cmon lads we're better than that

Clearly some aren't

Thanks Lauren for posting that article. Congratulations Benji for a wonderful career. I remember when a generation of kids wanted the Marshall step.

And the most from that article is from Sheens right at the end "we played to him". Says it all really about Sheens and how innovative he was and no doubt still remains.

Good luck to him but in my opinion he was one of the most overrated players ever. Sure he had a couple of good seasons but for every good game you got 5 stinkers. He was an important part of 2005 sure but it was Scott Prince that got us to the big one

Good luck Benji, I'm still happy with what the club decided last year as he looked cooked in D, but you have to give credit where it's due, he is in the big dance. Meanwhile we are hoping half our squad take up jobs with Columbian marching bands, led by Brandon Smith, in front of lots of people with cameras.

Chris Lawrence scores on debut against the Brisbane Broncos

To my favourite Tiger ever, thankyou!!
I'll always cherish and respect your time with us.
Not many get to reach the dizzying heights that you have and no player was as mesmerising to watch.
You were a constant source of inspiration to fans, teammates and players alike and for that you should feel proud - you've cemented one of greatest legacies in the game and your silky skills rewrote the history and rule books.
You'll always be a legend in my eyes.
Love you Benji and best wishes Xxxx

Well said. Totally agree and more than anything am glad that post was not finished on a negative! Without him there would not be a 2005! And yes was the whole team!!! Thanks Legend!

That was a super article.

Probably even more than the GF in 05, the game against Saints in the PF.
What anticipation walking to the ground, people were losing it, Never seen atmosphere like that even with larger crowds, and the focus square on Benji. So what does he do, within a few minutes runs past the Australian international centres to score the softest of tries, even they were mesmerized.

Can see him doing something again on Sunday. Good on him but sadly it will detract from our moment.

He will always be a Wests Tigers legend. Really hope Souths get up in the GF and would be even better if the old champ could score or set up the winning try.

Always a legend for us … but hope him and the turds from South’s lose by 50+ and are totally embarrassed along with that clown Bennett.

I can see him missing the tackle that costs Souths the game .....

Or throwing the pass into the stands with the line wide open.

I see him as the weak link in Souths too, however, what I’d like to see is Benji nails the clutch moment winning the game, then announces his retirement.
