Im not sure if Im making something out of nothing, but is it cool to potentially out someones RL identity here? If they wanted to publish their RL identity they would. They might want to stay anonymous here?

This really is ludicrous. We are, somehow, meant to be excited for the future of WT because we have re-instated relics of the past? I acknowledge the efforts and success of the 2005 mob, but this is not 2005 anymore!

Well, I'm not excited at all. I'm saddened. I'm disillusioned.

I assume Marshall will continue his FOX Sports role? So, we have an "ambassador" who was willing to heap criticism on the club when he was, correctly in my opionon, moved on. And, who has an outlet to offer his comments on WT through his media profile; the mob who dumped him and who now rejoice in welcoming him back!!

Not me. It's unfathomable, in my opinion. The future has to be different from the present and the recent past.

This is yet another indicator, to me, that the real issues with WT lie with the Chair, CEO and Board.

Absolutely spot on
Yet another self interested opinion around the club feeding straight to the media

Wests Tigers are pleased to confirm that Life Member Benji Marshall will formally return to the club as an official ambassador.

Marshall, who recently announced his retirement from the NRL after a 19-year career, is the second most-capped player in Wests Tigers history and holds numerous club records including most career points, goals and tries scored by a five-eighth.

As an official Wests Tigers Ambassador, Marshall will assist the club in a number of different departments with a focus on pathways and development — providing positional expertise to Wests Tigers Cubs program as well as at junior representative training sessions for both Balmain and Western Suburbs SG Ball and Harold Matthews teams.

Marshall will also assist Wests Tigers in a commercial capacity with attendance and support of official Wests Tigers functions as well as various Membership, Corporate and Foundation events throughout the 2022 season.

Marshall said he was delighted to formally return to Wests Tigers.

“I’m very excited to start this new role with Wests Tigers and to continue contributing to a club that I’ve always loved,” Marshall said.

Wests Tigers and its fans have been part of my family for the majority of my career and I’m looking forward to continuing that journey together.

“This is an exciting new role that allows me to contribute to the club in a number of ways both on and off the field. I’m looking forward to helping grow the next generation of Wests Tigers players coming through our pathways and playing a part in bringing further success to this great club.”

Wests Tigers CEO Justin Pascoe said he was thrilled to see Marshall return to the club.

“On behalf of all at the club, I’d like to say how pleased we are to be able to welcome Benji Marshall back home to Wests Tigers,” Pascoe said.

“Benji is inextricably linked with the heritage and DNA of Wests Tigers and his return to the club is something we’re incredibly proud to see happen.

“I have no doubt he will have a lasting impact on the connections that we are building at the club and our proud Members, corporate partners and fans everywhere will be delighted to see him back in the Wests Tigers colours he is synonymous with.”

Marshall’s role at Wests Tigers as an official ambassador has been proudly delivered by two long-term supporters of the club — Wests Ashfield Leagues Club and Allied Express — who both expressed their excitement to see the 346-game legend return to the club.

“As a key part of Wests Tigers for many years now, Wests Ashfield are delighted to help bring Benji back home,” Wests Ashfield CEO Simon Cook said.

“Benji always has, and always will be, integral part of this club’s history and he truly understands what it means to be Wests Tigers.

"Having seen him be adored by so many during his time as a player, we’re all looking forward to seeing him back in Wests Tigers colours again to further increase the support and passion that exists for this club.”

“Allied Express are really excited to have played a part in bringing Benji back to Wests Tigers,” Allied Express CEO Colin McDowell said. “We have no doubt that Wests Tigers fans everywhere, but especially in our local areas, are going to love having him back at the club.”

Reading the full release Marshall's involvement can only be positive both in recruitment and corporately..

Imagine a young player being courted by the Club and Benji Marshall rocks up..

The canape' scoffers will love him also..

We complain that the media turn to Benny or Blocker or Jack as 'Wests Tigers Legends' when looking for comment..

Now this is the start with Marshall and Farah who are true Club 'Life Members' for comment.. Having them on board rather than arms length will only benefit the Wests Tigers..

Welcome back Benji..

This club has be soulless for way to many years as we all have been complaining about .
I believe this is being addressed at long last bringing back the master that gave our club the greatest success and the greatest player that has worn our jersey .. then the grittiest player in Farah that bleeds for the club to boot .. I say yes the soul train is on the way !

Benjamin is back as an ambassador

Ambassador what do they do?

I tried to find out but the link in the email from Wests Tigers doesn’t work. It leads to a page with an Oops 404 error (and a photo of Luke Brooks).

All good mate saw it on WT website. Guess he's dipping his feet in and role could change to anything in the future, my guess is he'll love coaching.

The 2 roles mentioned in the press were to help bring junior players on through the ranks and to work with Sponsors as an ambassador. Both sound to me like the ideal roles for him. Personally I believe he and Farrah are very important to the whole culture/history that should ooze from the walls at the new COE especially if we want young players to develop a pride, love and spirit for Wests Tigers. They are Legends of the club and this is exactly where they should be - I think it's a very positive move.

I can only see positives in having Benji in this role.

I agree, good move by the club IMO - Benji is personable, marketable and the ambassador role is probably an ideal fit for him.

I think you are, people can link to other sites and comments on here. If I were to post the same thing under different names on different sites I couldn't really be upset when people made the link. Kind of like when I started posting Ambush stuff on here or doing the podcast and people made the link and now know my real name etc. I put that info out there that allowed them to make that link.

Benji Marshall announces shock return to where it all began
One of the game’s modern day legends, Benji Marshall, has made a shock announcement as he confirms a return to the world of rugby league.

After a brief spell away from where his glittering rugby league career began, Benji Marshall is back at the Wests Tigers.

Marshall made 346 appearances across two stints for the joint venture club since debuting in 2003 and returns as an official club ambassador having retired from playing at the end of the 2021 season.

The 36-year-old was unceremoniously dumped by the Tigers towards the end of the 2020 season, and enjoyed the final year of his playing days with the Rabbitohs.

But with Tim Sheens — the coach who helped deliver the only premiership in the club’s 22-year history — returning as the side’s new director of football, Marshall has jumped back on board.

The opportunity to return to “a club that I’ve always loved” was a major pull for Marshall, as he looks to help in any way possible to ensure the Tigers’ longstanding finals drought doesn’t continue after the 2022 season.

“Wests Tigers and its fans have been part of my family for the majority of my career and I’m looking forward to continuing that journey together,” Marshall said in a club statement.

“This is an exciting new role that allows me to contribute to the club in a number of ways both on and off the field.

“I’m looking forward to helping grow the next generation of Wests Tigers players coming through our pathways and playing a part in bringing further success to this great club.”

Tigers CEO Justin Pascoe could barely contain his excitement at the thought of Marshall returning to the club and helping in a non-playing capacity.

In Marshall’s role, he will assist the club in multiple different departments with a focus on pathways and development.

The Kiwi will also aid the Tigers in a commercial capacity, including attendance at a number of official club functions and events throughout the 2022 season.

It represents somewhat of a surprise return, given the messy manner in which Marshall and the Tigers parted ways.

The star half had hoped to retire as a Tiger, but couldn’t hide his frustration at not being given the opportunity.

“It was a bit disappointing – but when I left the Tigers the first time, I didn’t think it was going to be a possibility to come back and play here again,” he told NRL 360 in 2020.

“I would have loved to have retired playing at the Wests Tigers. I feel like I might have to play somewhere else if I want to keep playing. It’s not angry – it’s more just wishing I could have retired here.

“I was a little bit disappointed the way I found out, reading it in the papers. I had a good chat with the coach and he laid out where I stood.

“When you hear from other sources that are not the coach or the club – you want to find out if it’s true or not. That’s part of playing first grade rugby league – clubs have to make hard decisions.”

What's next? Aaron Woods welcomed back with fanfare as our new forwards coach?

I can just imagine how Luke Brooks will be feeling.

Marshall: "Hey Luke. It doesn't matter that you get the ball on the clutch play and kick it out on the full or pass it 14 rows into the grandstand, as long as you throw a miracle flick pass and find a winger like Patty Richards good enough to catch it, your legacy and superannuation here is sealed. I look forward to working with you, bro"

If Luke Brooks win a premiership for us, he can have a job for life.
