Benji Marshall’s NRL future with St George Illawarra has been put on ice while he recovers from a hamstring injury.

Fox Sports’ chief NRL reporter James Hooper has revealed that the Dragons have pulled their $300,000 offer to the playmaker off the table.

The 31-year-old is without a home for 2017 with his focus now to return to the field after being scratched from Saturday’s game against Gold Coast.

Poor Benji. He was laughing at that offer and now he might get no offers.

I was thinking the same for $10,000 a game and $300K for about 9 months work not bad for an "oldtimer" on his last legs.

He should have taken then 4 year 700k "unders" deal he rejected before going to union. We would have been blowing a load of our cap on 2 blokes who have seen much better days

It was such a good deal for him but he just didn't look at things rationally. They are offering me a tonne of money. It's the best deal on the table. I'll go and do something else. Stupid.

Still it worked out better for us.

Potter didn't want him but the Board thought the 'Fans' did, they should give supporters the credit for having a Brain.Apparently Potter told friends he wasn't allowed to drop him,i know he(Potter) was on shaky ground himself but he should have done it anyway,it was probaly the wake-up call Benji needed to get his Ego under some sort of control.
Only rumours but he is already on the outer at the Saints, unless they have a string of long term injuries i wouldn't be surprised if he struggles to make the side as per the Union experiment…..Shame for such a talented Footballer.

Sounds very similar to what happenned with another stalwart recently.

And now I understand why the deal got taken off the table
