Benji's coaching skills

3 things tell me Benji is doing a good job
1. Attack we have scored 25 tries in 6 games ( much more than last year )
2. Defence - our goal line defence has held time and time again
Weve conceded a few too many long range tries though
3. Has the support of the playing group ( bar 1)
.
Its still early days and he will get better and better with time
The days of WT changing coaches willy nilly are gone

Stevec, while that maybe true, it doesn’t necessarily mean Benji and his coaching team are doing a great job.

It’s very difficult to critique their performance without witnessing it first hand. So many things can influence favourable stats.
As an example after 6 rounds our stats compare very well with the same period in 2024. But you’d expect something positive to happen with some star recruits in pivitol positions. We also have used only 23 players in 2025 compared to 37 same period last year.
You would expect an uptick in performance on those 2 changes alone.

You could argue that it’s the coach who recruited and picked n sticked but that would be only a very small part of the coach’s to do list.

The new recruits have been a key component in driving a winning teamwork culture.I really liked the way they called out Galvin’s behaviour and backed the coach, that’s a strong indication that he must be doing something right.

Yes, where he was the main man. Needs to understand that when you’re in a new dressing room with older more experienced players you need to bide your time. It’s not even like it used to be - back in the day you’d shut your mouth for years, be the punch line of jokes, pick up the gear until you had the respect.

Nowadays it’s much better in that the young players are brought in to a comfortable environment, however in my opinion one downside of this is that when crisis strikes many are not as resilient as everything has been given to them with bubble wrap.

And I’m not old school - it’s definitely better now, I just think that you still need to prepare a young player for the downs and that’s exactly why most players probably shouldn’t debut until 21.
I completely agree @Bigscreentv 👍

I have said it before that in my opinion Benji should have spent time in one of the group clubs to get some coaching skills,is that still my opinion, yes it is BUT so far Benji has taken the riens and has done a very good job as a rookie coach,so much so he has impressed me greatly with his man management skills, his playing style and his belief in the team and club..
To me he is far more Infront of other rookie coaches have been and I hope he gets to be as great as Bennett,Bellamy and Sheen's...
Keep going hard Benji we are behind you.👍

Tumeth & Matamua, both their contracts end after this season & they're not likely to be offered anything, from us.

Can't see either going on to further heights at the NRL, sadly...

I've heard no mention of either of them by anyone except Woods. Sounds like more nonsense thrown behind the reasoning by the pro-Moses camp.

Very random. Lachlan is clearly closer with the Matts era like the Lualiliis, Mason & TDS.
Yeah weird.
What was the gripe around Tumeth and Matamua?was it that they aren’t playing first grade or that they’re top 30?

Completely made up garbage by Woods.
"Look at me, I'm still relevant."

He was saying they're friends were Lachlan Galvin and he's upset they're being mistreated, by playing Ron Massey

He’s welcome to join them if he feels that strongly about it? Might not get the W’s he’s clearly chasing though

Woods is as thick as two planks on edge.
I find it hard to believe there would be any NRL fans out there that would call themselves a Woods fan.
I refuse to click on anything remotely related to him, the less air time we give him the sooner he be a forgotten memory.

What impresses me most so far is 4 halves we held the opponent scoreless in 6 weeks, and a whisker away from 6 scoreless halves / 2 clean sheets. Nothing like the old Tigers lack of resilience.

turdesco is getting more face time on telly with his opinions that really don't concern him .Slinking into retirement

Not about Benji - because honestly I'm still not really sure either way, but I'd say the improvement in defence is a lot to do with John Morris.
