Benji's "victim" in the Tele

I thought that since it is going to court that he cant talk about it?! Am i wrong here, or if he does spill his beans to the paper will this effect the outcome of the trial?

Interestingly he's happy to shoot his mouth off denying any racial sledge etc but as soon as they 'were you drunk' question comes up its a quick NO COMMENT!!!

Justice my ass

So it's OK to get pissed up, carry on like a twat, openly be derogatory to someone's face and be a massive pest then when you cop a smack in the gob for being all things mentioned above, you go running to the coppers and the media. Yeah, your a big man

There was once a day where the copper would have told you piss off and stop wasting everyones time and that you deserved it. These days, no one is responsible for their own actions. I wouldn't class myself as particularly old myself but alot of young people these days want everyone else to take responsibility for their stupidity. At what point in the recent years gone by did we say, "Yeah, it's OK, you carry on like a wanker, everybody else will just sit back and cop your stupidity and think your a big tough man and see you on your way with a smile. Nice work champ"

Whilst popular public opinion (and the law) says it's not OK to do what Benji did, some people, sometimes need a 'smack in the mouth'. I put that in inverted comma's because I use it as a metaphore, as in a 'smack in the mouth' could be any number of things used as a wake up call. It could mean pulling someone aside and saying that that sort of behaviour is not acceptable (not sure how far that would sink in at 3am, pissed outside Macca's on George St) right up to a literal smack in the chops, which as we all know, is what this bloke got. Not condoning violence, actually never been in a proper fight in my life, just realising a growing problem in society is the "I'm not responsible" attitude. I reckon it's got alot to do with the teaching of manners, or distinct lack of it, these days and kids being brought up in very cushioned environments. But that's a story for another time

Guys might I suggest that we becareful with what is written as this "gentleman's" lawyers will be trolling sites looking for evidence for his being a victim.

I really don't understand. Why do supposed ethnic minorities believe that they are incapable of making racist comments? Being racist is not something restricted to white anglo males…

Marshall’s alleged victim denies racist statements
Chris Barrett and Saffron Howden
March 16, 2011

THE man allegedly assaulted by Benji Marshall last night released a statement to the Herald through his solicitor strongly denying making racial comments against the Wests Tigers star.

Marshall is alleged to have punched a 24-year-old man outside McDonald's on George Street near Bridge Street in the city in the early hours of March 5\. He has been charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm. He has indicated he will plead not guilty to the charge.

Marshall's manager, Martin Tauber, said the player was provoked into the alleged attack by racist comments.

In a statement given to the Herald last night by the alleged victim's solicitor, Maurice Navarrete, that claim was vigorously opposed. ''My client vehemently denies any racial comments it is alleged he made against Mr Marshall,'' the statement said.

''My client is a person with an ethnic background who represents part of our multicultural society and respects its people and their differences.

''In fact, I am further instructed that most of my client's friends are New Zealand and Islander people with whom my client has grown up with. My client has great affection towards them. The racial comments made against my client are totally unfounded.''

A friend of the alleged victim, who says he witnessed the incident, said their group of friends included men of Sri Lankan, Filipino and Laotian descent, some of whom were ''darker'' than Marshall.

''You're not going to make a racial comment when your mate's darker than Benji,'' the friend said.

The alleged victim of the attack reportedly said yesterday: ''I'm not after fame, I'm not after publicity. I just want justice."

His friend, who did not wish to be identified, said the alleged victim had yelled out to Marshall as he crossed Bridge Street away from McDonald's: ''[Darren] Lockyer's better than you.''

Marshall then turned around and walked back to the few friends standing on the pavement, and asked the alleged victim to repeat the statement, the friend said.

When he had repeated it for the third time, Marshall punched him in the face, causing his lip to split, he told the Herald. One of the two men with Marshall had also thrown punches, but struck the alleged victim only once on the cheek, the friend said.

After the altercation, one of the alleged victim's friends pulled him back into the McDonald's, and Marshall went on his way, he said.

The man said the alleged victim, of Middle Eastern appearance, then called police. ''He's just a little bit lighter than Benji,'' the man said. ''You're [Marshall] setting a precedent … that if you bag their team, you get punched,'' he said.

And I am sure if the guy went up to benji not yelling ,not drunk not with ten mates and said" Look i think your team is crap this year and had a legitimate argument " Benji would not have allegedly do what he was allegedly accused of and probably jsut talked about it .Was the guy wearing a Halo and angel wings for the photo as well ??? give me a break

I made a similar comment on the other thread, but Benji has talked up lockyer himself. Saying that he is 'in awe' of him when they play All Stars together. There is NO WAY he would react to just that.

I think the photo says a lot. The manicured hair just screams w@nker.

Where is the injury too? Has it seriously cleared up in a week? How seriously soft and fame seeking is this douchebag? I don't care what he says, he's in it for the spotlight ONLY.

What was said aside, he antagonized Benji and he CANNOT act like he is innocent. Take some god damn responsibility for your actions you INCREDIBLY MASSIVE DOUCHEBAG!

That guy is really silly putting his face and name in the papers.(I reckon he probably got paid).
That said I really hope no-one takes matters in their own hands and "assaults" him.
That would only make matters worse and it would not be a good look for our club.

Wow, so much backpedaling by this guy.
We all know Benji isn't just going to make something up like that to justify his actions.
This guy needs to just man up and face the music, he was in the wrong and got s'wacked for it, face the consequence.
What a coward, all shook up in the news like awwh I want justice, how about you take your racist ego and find some justice between your wrist & a rusty blade.

FTR Benji has not confirmed to any public sourse the allegations made about racist taunts

What lawyers? He's the complainant not the defendant. Dude don't need to justify anything.

Well according to the SMH, it was his solicitor who released the statement. Obviously he believes this is a trial by media instead of a court trial…

i guess tahu doesnt exist in his world

He is a fool.

In this day and age once your name is out there, with the likes of facebook and LinkedIn you can pretty much find out anything about him like where he works.

He has a funny way of showing he doesnt want publicity
