Benji's worst game

every time he plays a game, the Auckland Blues offer goes down by 20k i reckon

I was thinking the same thing he's not doing his negs any favour at all, much like with our offer to him I think it is purely on marketability not skill level. Not this version of Benji that's for sure.

I wonder if Potter will give him the green light to fly to Japan this week to check out the rugby scene over their??????Went to NZ last week so why not Japan this week.

Really why are we playing him at all,in football your picked on form and not the form you had five years ago,it's all about current form and Benji has not played a decent game in yonks

He should be dropped that's not political it's what coaches do to under performing players. We the fans paid for merchandise tickets and memberships. If union still want him go to Japan this week!. The clubs bigger than this sook.

It is appropriate that a guy who could have been NZ's first true immortal but was never pulled into line or dropped when required early in his career shall see out his career inexplicably not being dropped.

Bottom line with Benji is that there is merchadise in the offing about his retirement and 200 games and it is too commercially vital to drop him

Yep , he won't be dropped.

Smeg, you probably hit the nail on the head. Its probably about selling T-shirts and trying to get a few more bums on seats, rather than the eternal optimist who thinks their is still a top line game in his kitbag.

I dont blame Benji, he has switched off for the season and probably for his football career, the problem is with the people who are selecting him

He is poor at the moment but he has plenty of company…just play him for the rest of the season...the final round can't come quick enough - I'l say thanks for your service, its time to move on.

As long as benji playing does not lead us to the wooden spoon, let him see out 2013

Yep. He is going at the end of this year and lets show some respect. I could get dropping him if he was really as bad as what is being posted on here but he isn't anywhere near that. He just isn't playing like a top level player.

I watched Thurston the other night drop the ball cold. Sirro came on for us and went for some stupid pass and dropped it cold. Fulton did one of the worst kicks I have seen the other night. Good players make mistakes. I don't think Benji is making anywhere near as many as what is being stated on here.

I think his time as a top player is over though and I am glad he is leaving but predominantly because he is expecting a massive salary and he just isn't worth it. I would like him here for the next couple of years to bring through Brooks and Moses if he was prepared to take a significant pay cut.

Benji should play for the rest of the year because it means more seats sold and more merchandise sold and as we can't make the finals this year then we need to get every dollar out of Benji we can to help us next year. Also he deserves some respect for all he has done for the club.

His form however is definatly horrible and it is effecting those around him.

Ayshford on the other hand well he doesn't bring in fans or merchandise he can head back to NSW cup and let's get Koroibete back in the side

Yep,the Board has handled the whole saga as well as possible IMO,he gave us years of loyal service and up until the last couple of years inspired the side to many wins.Obviously he has lost all form and need a new challenge to try and get out of the rut he finds himself in and good to see the Board cutting him some slack to try and find a new club,he deserves it.

Benji's game against the Broncs was far worse ….but dont let that spoil your lovely little [automatically edited] session girls.

Damning by faint praise indeed. Oh wait; it wasnt even praise!

It isnt praise, I agree he is not playing well. I am just sick of seeing 5 new threads a week blaming everything on this one bloke. This forum loves a scapegoat…Fitzy, Morris, Moltzen, Sheens, Marshal....cant wait to see who the next one is. I would suggest Rowdy but he looks likely to soon succumb to his injuries because in him I see a fella who is finished as a footballer and it is a real shame. So who will it be? Woods? Farah?

Or could it be that the new brigade that everyone is screaming to be elevated do not meet expectations and are flayed alive?

Marshal isnt playing well. This is not a revelation. I still think he is trying and until he stops doing that I would not sack him. I may move him to the bench but I would leave him in the top side. He deserves his send off.
