Best New Signing in 2010

I am hoping Cayless as he still has a point to prove in the NRL thats why he is back and Toupo after a long injury stint on the sidelines.

Cayless and tuquiri,Flanagan will most likely come off the bench and has potential, lets hope he goes really well because he is a goalkicker, and we all know how much the tigers need this,Tuquiri and Tuiaki when he is back from injury, two monsters for wingers, they will be a force,Most of the other guys i dont think will get a run,i hear Sheens wants Moltzen at halfback and Tuquiri at fullback when he gets match fitness,I would reather see Lote play on the wing or second row,Arana i would like to see given a chance too, full of talent,But i think Lui might even start the year at halfback he has potential as well, finally we got rid of the deadbeats who were still playing the 05 card and got some talent, tigers top 8,i would like to hope pushing top 4,but i think about 6th position is where they should be,all going well.

Which '05 deadbeats would they be? Halatau is the only notable one that has left this season and Fitzhenry (and to a lesser extent Fulton,) have returned… I also hope thats not a stab at Skando... 😕

Would love to know what sort of cash Gibbs, Payten, Morris, Collis and Halatau were/are on to force the likes of Hodgo to look to SL...

Assuming that we don't sign Tuqiri, this is my side:

1\. Moltzen
2\. Tuiaki
3\. Ayshford
4\. Lawrence
5\. Brown
6\. Marshall
7\. AJ
8\. Galloway
9\. Farah
10\. Cayless
11\. Heighington
12\. Ellis
13\. Fulton

14\. Flanagan
15\. Moors
16\. Gibbs
17\. A. Fifita

i went for arana, hope he puts the past behind him, i think he"ll have a big year .

Completely agree Tiger Rat. Arana was a great sign-up and will completely complement the Tigers open style of play. He is quick and skilful. A lot of Benji about him. I imagine he will start the year on the bench or at FB with Moltz and Benji in the halves.

1\. Taumata
2\. Tuqiri
3\. Lawrence
4\. Ayshford
5\. Tuiaki
6\. Marshall
7\. Moltzen

Just heard from one of my customers where David Gower works that he reckons will be…..... Our secret weapon will be the dashing forward David Gower . David has built up over the off season (+5kgs) and is training very well with the squad. He was very battered and bruised after last years grand final.

I am really looking forward to seeing David Getting more game time this year in FG. 😛ray:

hmm thats interesting about gower..i didnt even think he was in the squad?

I just repeated what was sent to me in an email from someone who works with David….

This is how the conversation was continued....

**Me**..I agree there about makin the top 4…only paying $4 to make it though…was hoping for better odds than that
I go to heaps of Balmain matches and I have been a massive fan of David for years.
He has been extremely unlucky not to have played 6 or so FG games already…..please say hello for me…hope he kills it this year.

**His Reply**...Yes he has been unlucky I was beginning to think that Tim Sheens did not want him, fortunately he has been kept in the train on squad. David had terrific results at TAFE (90s+) and was a regional apprentice of the year. ...

oh fair enough, must of got resigned just at the last minute. though i do know that when players arent wanted at the club they can choose if they want to stay though it will result in a pay cut.

Yeah,BT, I just hoping that Sheens gives David a fair go this year…..he knows how to do the hard work , and hopefully with be a surprise package as my customer stated. Heaven knows our top squad needs help in the front row department, and so far this pre season is shaping up well

definitely. from watching him play for balmain id rather him be on the bench > shirnack ( not saying he isnt good i just prefer gower ). It will be hard for him to get a spot though with the likes of galloway, cayless, fifita, gibbs, tupou and moors who are ready for first grade imo. it will be interesting to see the line up in the trials to say the least.

and Bryce finally wakes up,and plays to his potential.

Does Gibbs have any real potential?

Gibbs had a very good season last year. Yes his discipline cost him and the team at times but he also saved a few times and finally started bending the line in attack. He finally averaged over 100m per game too which is what you want from your front rowers.

Gaining 5kg will certainly help him out. He's definitely better utilised in the backrow though, particularly if he plays FG.

I was mainly talking about Collis, and halatau, but i feel Todd payten should have gone too, hasnt been near his best like halatau,Gibbs can play well but gives away too many stupid penalties, has to go,I know i might seem harsh but i feel these players have had more then there chance to get it right,Mate i love skando,a true champion and proved it again last yr stepping in for the tiges and doing a great job when we needed it,ALL THE BEST FOR THE RECOVERY SKANDO,I like your team  i think Ryan will get the nod at wing tho,so great there is competition for positions this year

I think what people actually miss with Gibbs is that in many cases he gives away a penalty to save his team (2 points better than 4/6 etc.). Very smart player actually, sure he has his explosion at times but more often than not he is saving a stretched defence.

One i can clearly remember is when he chased down Hayne (big effort on its own) in Rd 24 and then laid on the ruck feigning injury. Sure he gave away a penalty, but he guaranteed they didn't score on the next play.

Gibbs is also one of the fittest props running around. I think he will have a big 2010.

I'm not sure if you are giving him more credit than he actually deserves. I think he will play his part in the team and is a very solid defender. Perhaps a bit slow at times though. I doubt he **chased down** hayne!! It must have been a case of right place right time! Surely

I'm tipping moors to be a good signing. If he is as big as people say then he could easily play front row and add a bit of mobility along with Galloway who is pushing rep honours.

Gibbs did tackle hayne in cover support, and from memory I think it was a chase down. He does give away stupid penalties but I agree that he often gives away ones when the team is stretched to buy the team a breather.

Gibbs did stop Hayne…...he's done it on more than one occassion in different games...

Gibbs is most often the first forward back to take the first or second hit up.....his workrate in defence is better than most second rowers including ours...he's not lazy.....

Giibs attack has been soft and ineffectual untill last season....where IMO he showed glimpses of being an effective metre making PROP....he stepped up when Galloway was injured and finally started to get through the advantge line...some want to get rid of him now......

If anyone is going to benefit from Folkes conditioning it will be Gibbs......

I've said it before... _**2010--The Year of Bryce**_....wouldn't surprise to see twin Tiger Bookends for Origin.....

Agree. I have been harsh on Gibbs in previous years, but not last year - He was one of the Tigers better forwards and averaged over 100m per game for the season. Apart from the occasional silly penalty, Gibbs proved solid. He bent the line in attack and has always been solid in defence. He and Galloway are both maturing as props despite being young still and I reckon they're both in for a big 2010.

Support for Galloway and Gibbs at Prop appear to be a rotation including Moors and Tupou (If fit)
